Gone back to Brita
After using the Phox water softener refills for 12 months, I've gone back to Brita Hard Water filters. Don't get me wrong, Phox filters do work and the water tastes much better than straight from the tap. New users won't be disappointed. However, I see 2 obvious differences between the 2 products both of which made me switch back. 1. I don't get any limescale build up with Brita but I have to clean the kettle after every 2nd filter with Phox. 2. I can see the bottom of a cup of tea made with Brita water but not tea made with Phox water. Consequently tea tastes much better made with Brita than Phox water. In summary, if you are looking for a filter that works and is a bit cheaper than than Brita without the hassle of recycling used filters, this is the one for you. If you are looking for a filter to vastly reduce the limescale build up in your appliance and give you the best cup of tea, perhaps not.
