Refused service without a sip of alcohol
Absolutely disgusted in the customer service of the Beenleigh Dan Murphy’s store. Saturday 30 Oct 2021 my 74 year old father (a Beenleigh born & bred, well known & respected member of the community who lives less than 1 kilometre from the store) has pterygiums in both eyes (red membrane covering the white in eyes over cornea) had attempted to purchase a bottle of scotch after a hard day at work only to find the female checkout assistant whispered to the manager who then refused to sell him the scotch due to their belief that he appeared to be “drunk”. My “coherent” father proceeded to explain he hadn’t had a drink as he had been at work all day & on his way home & also made it clear he drove to the store & would never drink & drive. Even though he gladly offered for him to be breathalysed, the Manager said they couldn’t do that. In disbelief my father left the store stopping to tell the security guard on duty outside what had just happened. My father always supports his local Dan Murphy store & I really do hope if their store employees/manager cannot distinguish the difference between an intoxicated or coherent customer, then I really hope he takes his business elsewhere😡 Will be taking this up further if I can get to speak to a person about it
