RSD Travel to Northern Cyprus, October 2022

Cyprus October 2022 From Ercan airport we were all assigned to a coach and met our tour guide Jusuf (who was very informative on our trips). Our first three nights were at Novel Centre Point Hotel in Famagusta, we had a room on the 8th floor, getting the lift sometimes took a while and only two people and their luggage would fit in it. We had tea making facilities in our room. The self service restaurant food was very nice, but sometimes a bit cold. All our drinks were extra. Our days were very busy with coach trips so we didn't see any of the town. Our next four nights were in The Olive Tree Hotel in Girne, no tea making facilities and a very small room away from the hotel. The self service restaurant food was good but sometimes cold. Drinks were extra. The trips to the carpet factory, the jewellery centre and the leather outlet were all very hard sell, they almost wouldn't take no for an answer. Our next 7 nights were at the Kaya Artimis Hotel complex. Because it was well away from any town we opted to pay an additional £222.36 each, to Northern Travel, to go fully inclusive, (we should have gone for this when we booked the holiday). It included all our lunch and dinner food, snacks and drinks. The downside was our room was not on the ground floor and there was no lift, we got no help taking our luggage up and down the stairs, they only took it to and from the entrance of the block. For a 5 star hotel we expected tea making facilities in our room, there were none, we had to ask for hot water in a flask to be sent to our room. The complex was very large with 11 bars to get your drinks and snacks from, some of which had waitress service. Towels were provided for the pools and the beach. The self service restaurant was huge with just about anything you wanted, but again the food was sometimes only warm and at times it was very crowded. We only saw the rep for our group on our arrival, he was very misleading and unprofessional. The worst part of our holiday was when we left the hotel. We had to be up and ready to leave the hotel by 3am in the morning. Three coaches left the hotel for Ercan airport, they only had one entrance and one scanner working, so it took almost two hours of queing before we got on our plane to Antalya. (Do not buy any drinks from the duty free at Ercan, it will be taken from you by security at Antalya airport). We were told to leave the plane at Antalya and we were all herded through another scanner at Antalya airport before we got back on our plane for Gatwick. Not sure if I would use RSD Travel in future.
