Appalling communication
We were recommended this firm by our mortgage advisor based on their excellent score, which was backed up by the excellent Trustpilot score of 4.7/5. What could go wrong? Whilst communication was good to begin with and the portal they use was efficient at generating tasks for us to complete, our first bad experience was encountered when the portal showed we had instructed our solicitor on the property we were purchasing, however it became apparent (via a vague portal message after they were chased by our developer) that they had not been instructed. This had been showing for over a month on the portal that we had instructed them and we had no outstanding tasks to complete. This was brushed off as a system error (although they took no responsibility) and was eventually resolved, although still caused a delay that should never have happened, and been picked up on a lot earlier. Communication then decreased; emails & portal messages were being ignored but when we did receive updates, these only conspired to cause more questions not only from us, but also other parties involved. Communication was so bad that it go to the point where both our buyers solicitor and our developers solicitor were being ignored, which as a result meant pressure was being put onto us by the other parties expecting answers we simply could not provide, all because of a reluctance for our solicitor to communicate with the other parties solicitors. As if the communication issues weren’t bad enough, we received a legal contract to sign which contained a spelling error. How can this happen? To date, we’ve ended up putting in 2 complaints with this firm about the appalling communication from our solicitor, and have yet to receive a response to our first one (even though they say you will receive an acknowledgment within 3 working days). This process is still ongoing and putting a review on at this stage is not something we wanted to do, but we have reached the point where our developer has given us a deadline to exchange contracts and we are not confident this is even going to happen. This has caused us extreme stress and anxiety that the sale & purchase is going to fall through all because of the complete lack of communicating with the other parties solicitors. It’s more frustrating that you read through the reviews on here and so many people have received the complete opposite experience to us. Good luck if you choose to go with this firm as you may need it.
