If I could leave a zero star review
If I could leave a zero star review, I would. Michael Palagi, Sales Executive at Marriott, pressured us for almost 4 hours to make a purchase with them despite our desire to end the meeting. Eventually we ended up purchasing points thinking it would be a great way to enjoy family vacations in some specific spots we wanted to go. Throughout the sales pitch, Michael made it sound very easy to use our points to book at any of the resorts in the inventory. Boy, was he wrong. We’ve paid a significant amount to Marriott since 2019 and received almost nothing in return. We have not even been able to use our points to travel because every time we have tried to book a trip using them, we have been advised there is no availability. We’ve checked frequently on their website for availability, yet nothing is ever available. I am convinced the reason I can’t find anything available is because Marriott sells their rooms to non-owners on travel sites accessible by anyone and those sites end up getting priority over their paying owners. In fact, I have researched this a number of times when I was unable to find availability through the Vacation club and found each time that I could book the same resort through a travel site if I wanted to. Marriott also told us they had a buyback program, but when I inquired about this, they told me I first had to pay off the loan, then they would take it back with no compensation to me. I am extremely disappointed that Marriott would use the idea of availability to entice people to purchase and then act in this manner when it turns out their representations about availability were untrue.
