Continued payments post closure, ignoring member cancellation request
The Bethnal Green énergie Fitness branch has been closed since late September 2025 and has not reopened. The landlord has put up a notice to highlight the lease for the site has has been forfeited, yet énergie continues to claim the club “will reopen soon” and still lists it online as open and taking new members. There’s no way to cancel — the Terms & Conditions say to contact the local club, which is non-operational, and head office doesn’t respond to emails. Other members are reporting the same issue. My requests for cancellation has been completely ignored for weeks, no doubt a flagrant attempt to tie members in for more payments with their 30 day notice in their Terms and Conditions. My Emails have also been ignored by the same email address shared in responses by the brand themselves to other posts here. It’s unacceptable to keep collecting payments for a gym that no longer exists or to ignore cancellation requests. On top of this, their Comms have addressed members by incorrect names, highlighting a GDPR breach I have reported to the Competition and Market authority for investigation.
