I ended up choosing Lava because they were one of the very few places that said that a passport isn't needed for renting. I was mostly happy with my decision but didn't have any huge problems with the car so I don't know how they work in that case. A few nits, though - the pick up shuttle from the airport took a bit longer than advertised - the car's manual was only in German for some reason so I had to google certain things - the high beams were either not up to their task (too dim) or not correctly set up
