⭐ 1 Star – Left Uninsured Abroad After Misleading Renewal Advice and No Follow-Up Reference: RQ-WF6ZCXG We were long-standing annual policyholders with Just Travel and sought to renew our policy before it expired on 6 May. On 10 April, I contacted their team to clarify whether we needed to renew before travelling to Dubai on 16 April. We were assured it was fine to renew any time before 6 May, and our cover would continue seamlessly. Relying on this advice, we travelled. I attempted to renew mid-trip around 27 April and was asked to update our medical details. I disclosed my wife’s newly diagnosed arthritis. The call was terminated partway through – no follow-up call or email was received. When I contacted them again on 28 April, I was told the updated medical information meant they would not renew our policy and that it had to be treated as a new application, leaving us effectively uninsured while abroad. We were never warned that medical updates might prevent renewal, nor were we sent any written confirmation, explanation, or alternative options – all of which fall below any standard of fair service, especially for a regulated firm. We have now submitted a formal complaint, citing breaches of the FCA’s Consumer Duty and ICOBS signposting rules. This experience has caused unnecessary distress and completely undermines the purpose of buying travel insurance – peace of mind when overseas. Absolutely unacceptable. Proceed with caution.
