BEWARE their subscription auto-renewal

I signed up for a three-month subscription using a discount code and was pleased with the three themed boxes that I received. I believed that was the end of it and considered it a good option for possible gift-giving in the future. However, without any emailed warning I was then charged full price ($144) for an additional three months. I immediately contacted TokyoTreat to clear up this misunderstanding, since I had only wanted to purchase those initial three boxes, which is what I believed I had subscribed to, but their response was, "Unfortunately, we are unable to issue refunds for payments that have already been processed through our system." They also claimed that they were clear about the nature of their auto-renewal (they were not), and essentially that it was my fault for not cancelling before the renewal (which I had no idea would happen). Now I'm stuck with three more boxes of treats and a deep feeling of resentment toward this company. I feel deceived and regret ever making the initial purchase. I don't recommend TokyoTreat or any of their other subscription boxes, not unless you're fully aware of what you're signing up for.
