Unexplainable and unjustifiable discrepancy between water usage and cost
We are becoming very frustrated, since we have been with Anglian Water for years and never had any issues until recently. When we moved house around one year ago, our water bill increased significantly, even though there are only two of us still and our water consumption has remained the same. We are still living in the same area, in the same type of house. Our garden is very small, and we mainly use rainwater to water it now, which we were not able to do before. The house appliances are also the same. We spoke to Anglian Water about this and were told that we may have had a leak. In all fairness we did, it was a small one but we had it repaired and sorted immediately. We asked our trusted plumber to check for other leaks, and he did not find any. However, after this was sorted, we were still being charged the same amount as before the leak had been fixed. We carried out leak tests as advised by Anglian Water daily, and the results always confirmed that there were no further leaks. We therefore tried reducing our water consumption even further, for example by using our washing machine and dishwasher even less than previously. Shockingly, our bills still had not changed however, so we called Anglian Water and discussed our water usage with them again. They confirmed that our usage corresponds to that of 2-3 people. When we told them how much we were being charged however, they explained that we were being charged as though 6 people were using our water. They did not seem to know why and offered no further input or support. Interestingly, I have spoken to a couple of people in our area that have reported the same issue. We would appreciate if you could get back to us ASAP please, because this is simply not sustainable, in terms of cost and time spent on trying to resolve this issue. It is simply not acceptable. Thank you in advance. Regards, Rebecca
