When I ordered my 6-month package in…
When I ordered my 6-month package in January, the text about auto-renewing subscriptions was greyed out against a white background. This can be seen on the Wayback Machine today. TokyoTreat has not sent me an email about an upcoming subscription renewal. They simply charged me again. But they also charged a different sum than agreed when I set up my subscription. The important bit — whatever subscription term you choose, be it 1, 3, 6, or 12 months, THAT IS NOT THE SUBSCRIPTION TERM. The subscription is infinite. None of this is strictly illegal, but it is a terrible scam-like business practice. The boxes are also not worth it. They look bigger in pictures but every snack is baby-sized (one pack in the box may have two rice crisps, or one tiny pastry). You can usually buy the same items in your local Japanese store for half the price, if that. And they are very, very spammy with emails. All in all — bad experience. In addition, I would say — read up online on TokyoTreat recurring subscriptions and the way their customer support acts.
