Tough experience made easier by kind, empathetic people.
I was arrested in early 2024 and after 6 months I was given NFA and my property was returned. I had no previous interactions with the police and was clueless about how the criminal justice system works. Initially, I called 10+ solicitors to ask for help and only 1 listened to me without interruption, encouraged me to research other solicitors before committing and told me that my life wasn’t over whatever the outcome. For that I will always be indebted to Nick Ives. Nick is generous with his time, kind and empathetic and explains everything clearly and succinctly. Throughout my case Nick was happy to take calls when I asked him, would reply to emails in a timely manner and generally made me feel a little more at ease when my head was turning day after day. I know that my case was resolved relatively quickly and if someone is in a similar position for a long time, having Nick on your side will help calm and centre your mind. This process will weigh heavily on you day after day whether you realise it or not and that is why I was very fortunate to have Molly Lafferty as my paralegal, aiding Nick. Molly has a professional and kind manner. She never made me feel judged or worried and would always answer my questions/respond to me quickly. Additionally if Molly didn’t know the answer she would consult Nick rather than bat away my concerns. I am very grateful to have had Molly supporting me throughout this ordeal. I would also like to mention the reception staff at MMS Manchester, specifically Danielle. I felt they were always polite and eager to help you find who you needed quickly. Overall, MMS never tried to pull the wool over my eyes, treated me with respect, empathy and kindness and I would recommend them to anyone in a similar position.
