Poor service

Purchased a Remote Control which had a faulty home button (poor contact) out of the box. Phoned the company and requested a replacement in the first week. In the mean time I figured a way around using the home button for most but not all tasks. A couple of calls over the course of a year yielded no response. The contact reliability of the button continued to get worse. I had a note in my diary to write to the company near the end of the first year and on doing so I received a reply to say the warranty was only six months. This is not actually legal in Europe and I sent information to the company explaining the warranty in the EU was two years. The company ignored it and refused to replace the faulty remote. The company then said the warranty was one year and had expired but in fact I had written to them just prior to the end of the first year. I'm still hoping the company will honour their obligations.
