Airport Van Rental

NEVER...EVER...AGAIN!!! Spend the extra money!!!
If I could give them no stars in Los Angeles I would!!! This was by far one of the most hacked experiences I have ever endured with my wife and 2 kids in the middle of the night!!! First off, when we got to LAX we had to call to get instructions on how to get to the rental office...no big deal, but I called and they said one of the drivers would be there to get us in their van. First red flag was the fact that we were told we had to go to the top level, where non of the other rental companies are, and look for “CL Parking”...we could find “CL Parking”. So I called again and was told “it’s over by the hotel and parking lot pick up”. Went over to that area, still couldn’t find “CL Parking”. We walked up and down the level, talk to an officer and asked them where it was, and they told us that rental car company pickups are all on the same level and we needed to go back downstairs. So all 4 us wheeling our bags around went back down to the lower level AGAIN!!! Couldn’t find “CL Parking”!!! I called a 3rd time and asked what EXACTLY am I looking for, because it’s been over an hour since our plane landed and we first contacted them. The person put me on hold and said and when they came back said we should have someone there in about 15 minutes or so...it’s a white passenger van that said “CL Parking” on it. One would think that the van would be clearly marked, right?? So we were looking and looking and waiting and waiting and finally about a half an hour later a white passenger van with small lettering near the bottom! The driver, Arthur, was extremely nice and very helpful. He took us to the van rental office and dropped us off. This place was sketchy at best!!! It was really poorly lit with paper signs taped up telling us where we needed to go. There was one other passenger with us upon pickup at the airport and she had to leave the rest of her party at the airport to get dropped off at the rental office. They only wanted to pick up the drivers and leave the rest of their party at the airport...not gonna happen in my case!!! I’m not leaving my wife and children alone at LAX while I hop in a van and leave them alone for god knows how long!!! When we finally made it inside the office, it was no better...uncomfortable was the first feeling that came to mind, but we waited, and waited, and waited in line for our turn, which seemed excessive because there were more people working there than there was customers!!! Maybe about another half hour later the woman in front of me, that was by herself, spoke up and said “excuse me guys, I have a reservation” to which the gentleman who was clearly in charge told her that “he’s busy and would deal with her when he was done”!!! At that point, I looked at my wife and said that’s it, I’m done, I’ll call an Uber and go somewhere else. So while I was standing in line I cancelled my reservation online, on my phone. As we starting walking out the guy in charge said “what’s the matter, where are you going?” And I then informed him that I cancelled my reservation online. He could have cared less. He said “oh” and went on doing whatever he was doing. When we got outside the driver that had picked us up at the airport was pulling back in with more passengers, so I asked him where the closest rental car place was, or how to get back to the airport. He was very apologetic about the situation and told us that he had to run back to LAX and would bring us back and drop us off so we could get set up with a different rental car company. He started putting our stuff in the back of the van and the “guy in charge” came outside and asked what I was doing. I told him I was trying to rent a car, at which point he snapped at me about canceling my reservation. As we stood in a shady part of some random neighborhood with my wife and 2 kids in the middle of the night after having dealt with the situation since hours earlier. I lost it on the guy!!! We got in a screaming match in the parking lot. Long story short...Don’t!!
