Heed my warning, don't become an owner of Marriott Vacation Club!
Marriott Vacation Club has betrayed our trust and loyalty to the Marriott brand. I’m sharing our experience because people need to be made aware of their deceptive sales tactics and fraudulent sales presentations. The timeshare salespeople, specifically Joaquin Boadella & Brooks Bohon, lied to my wife and me and continued to lie to keep my business by not letting us out of our contract. We were told that we would receive amazing VIP benefits if we continued to upgrade our ownership, including priority booking of rooms and resort events, travel booking services, and so on. We were also sold on the idea that our ownership could be sold back to Marriott at a later date After paying almost $35,000 to date, we have discovered that there is no such thing as VIP status or specific benefits and Marriott does not buy back memberships. Don’t trust anything your salesperson says. We attempted to get out of our contract using the 10-day rescission period, based on the receipt of the final paperwork. We received the contract on August 21, 2021, and we emailed a cancellation request on August 31, 2021, just before midnight. I know they received it because our salesperson called us THE NEXT DAY telling us it was too late to cancel, and we had missed the rescission period. When I read him the contract language verbatim, he said he would investigate it, but we never heard from him again. Not addressing their owner complaints seems to be an ongoing theme with this company. We voiced our complaints to Charles Buckley, the Director of Sales, but he never responded. We then contacted Rhonda Robinson, Owner Advocate, and eventually the Director of Customer Advocacy, Carla Smith. We were met with a complete lack of respect on all fronts. The owner advocates defended the tactics, lies, and fraudulent information that was used to sell us our points. We have now escalated our concerns to the President of the company at their corporate headquarters. We have yet to receive a response. Heed my warning, don’t become an owner of Marriott Vacation Club!
