Okay experience for first time buyers
We didn't have to deal with Ocean that closely but two things made the already stressful experience of buying out first home more stressful: -The estate agent warning that the sellers would need to explore other options with the other interested buyers because it was taking us too long to find a solicitor. This was 5 days after we told the estate agent we were working on it, and at the time she sent this, the sellers would have already been aware we'd chosen a solicitor as it was the same company they'd selected so we'd both needed to complete a conflict of interest form for this. It just seemed mean and unnecessary to mention this, and was very upsetting at the time as it felt we needed to contact them asap to avoid losing the house and see what went wrong since the sellers should already know where we're at. The estate agent could have easily called us if it was an urgent question that would compromise the sale. Also, we were first time buyers and it's understandable some things may take longer. Just because the sellers are trying to move the sale asap does not mean we as the buyers will not do our due diligence to pick the right solicitor. - One of the 'move managers' started reaching out to us requesting information with no real introduction on who she was or what her role was in the process. As well as asking about when surveys would be conducted at the property that had already happened. This was just a bit confusing because we weren't sure between the estate agent, the move manager, and our solicitor, who was exactly involved in what, what information to send and to who, and who to direct certain questions or requests towards. Overall it was an okay experience. We picked up our keys and we're able to get the information we needed from Ocean on the property. But it definitely felt that sometimes the communication and customer service was a bit lacking, even internally between the Ocean staff that was involved. As buyers we felt like it was an afterthought or inconvenience to deal with us & our requests. As mentioned, I felt it made an already complicated and stressful process even more so.
