Poor Quality Product
I really wish I would have done my homework prior to giving this company my business. I’m not a guy who writes reviews very often, I have more important things to do. Only prompted to do so when a company is super shady or absolutely fantastic. There is nothing “Classy” about The Classy Home. I ordered Picket House Madison Gray Wood Storage King Bed and 2 matching nightstands for $1390.88 on 4-21-24. What went right: Furniture was delivered 1 day early on 5-14-24, undamaged. I thought 3 weeks for such a large shipment was pretty good. Furniture exterior was as expected and looks nice to me. Nightstands came pre-assembled. What went wrong: Bed was missing a couple of small screws (No big deal for me because I keep lots of hardware) Drawers for both the nightstands and bed utilize cheap drawer slides that do not allow smooth opening and closing. I will fix this sometime in the future. As I was assembling this bed frame, I noticed the mattress support materials were flimsy and did not look strong enough to hold my 200lb king mattress, me 6’4” 220lbs and my girlfriend, but I continued, knowing this frame probably wouldn’t stand the test of time. Supporting the mattress was (5) – 79” x 1.5” x .75” plywood strips, center supported by (1) 20” x 1.5” x 1.5” light wood post each, then connected together by (6) - 80” X 12” x .25” pressboard (glorified cardboard) strips. This equates to 592.5 square inches of cheap materials supporting a 6080 square inch mattress weighing 550lbs with 2 people on it. After assembly was complete, I put my mattress on it and it seemed fairly sturdy, but the test of time came just 3 nights later when, with my girlfriend spending the night, the bed collapsed near the head of the bed when I rolled over. Super “Classy”…I did not bother to call and complain because I didn't want to wait for cheap replacement parts that would only fail again. If you’re questioning my assembly skills, I have 35+ years of construction and remodeling experience and I’m a master electrician that has designed and built electrical cabinets. Sending this bed frame back would be too much of a hassle and I do like the look of it, so the next day I went to my local hardware store and spent $200.00 dollars for quality support materials to repair the poorly designed bed frame. The bed frame could now be used as a tornado shelter. I own the fact that I didn’t do better research on this bedframe. I was looking for a tall storage bed because I have a small bedroom without much storage space and was having difficulty finding one that suited my needs so when I came across this bedframe with (1) - 4 star review, I stopped my search. (See Update, the next paragraph was part of my initial review/problem) My real problem with this company isn’t the poorly designed bed frame that they sold me under the guise of “Classy”, it’s their blatant dishonesty. The fact I’m here on Trust Pilot writing this review, should tell you everything you need to know about this company. DO NOT trust their “reviews”. I doubt they post many or any negative reviews and looking at some of their posted positive reviews, they look manufactured. I tried to post a review (not nasty) on this bedframe with pictures of the broken frame and my repairs to warn people of its poor quality and The Classy Home hasn't posted it under the product. I only received an email stating “Thanks for your feedback”. They’re not sharing negative customer experiences and that to me is completely unacceptable and dishonest. I will update this review if they ever post my review. I hope this review is helpful to someone smarter than me that researches a company before making a purchase. 6-3-2024 Update: The Classy Home reached out to me and apologized for not posting my product review and offered a refund to cover my repair costs. They posted my review but didn't include all my pictures that gave a clear picture of what happened. At least visiting customers have a written explanation of the product quality. I guess a squeaky wheel does get grease. I'm updating my rating from 1 to 3 because it appears they will try to make things right and I do what I say I will do. I still wouldn't trust the quality of their products or consider them for future purchases.
