Expensive, fourth-rate service, and unbearably slow
Won two lots of books at a Drouot auction in Paris in May. The lots were not collected by thepackengers until more than 2 weeks after auction; they sat in their warehouse for another 10 days before being "packed"; then for another 11 days "awaiting collection" by Fedex. Fedex then did a great job delivering to London, and in good time. Finally, and no skin off my nose, they were shipped in 2 separate parcels / deliveries - a waste of money and showing - what the whole transaction had already suggested - a hugely inefficient process. ** Update ** thepackengers replies that they 'depend on the availability of the auction house to receive us to collect your lots'. I've been in touch with the auction house, who assure me the delay was not theirs. And it doesn't explain why the packages sat for 21 days in their warehouse before being passed to Fedex. Having paid a premium price, I received a fourth-rate service, and it's insulting to be fobbed off with this nonsense reply.
