Ring resize regret

Very disappointed with my experience of gold wedding band resizing here. Needed my ring 1 size smaller (Q to P) and was quoted £30. This was my wife's Nan's ring (previously sized up for me but a bit too much) and is 22 carat. When I went to collect the ring, I immediately noticed a discoloured band around where the resizing was made. I pointed this out and was told this is because they usually work with 18 carat gold. I couldn't understand why they would think this is acceptable but they said they would fix it without argument. Next week I went back to pick it up again and was told they haven't been able to do anything as they just don't work with 22 carat gold and assured me that no one in the Hatton Garden area would work with 22 carat gold (which I find difficult to believe). In any case I cannot understand why they took the ring in the first place without informing me there would be a colour difference so I could decide. After insisting there was nothing more they could do, they then proceeded to try and charge me £60 (I assume as they had logged it as two resizings). I'm now left with a ring which is visually imperfect, worth less given 22 carat is purer, and when I find a place who will resize this properly, I'll need to pay again for the work and likely more to replace the lost 22 carat gold - so the very least I would have expected is to not have been charged. I wasn't sure whether I should post this review, as I'd like to think I've just been unlucky, but I received a request for feedback and am happy to oblige.
