Never ever again !
The worst logistics company, I have seriously dealt with in 50 years of business. In August, I purchased a car from Bonhams auction at Pebble Beach, which I needed to transport home to New Zealand. Promoting and offering this service on site, was Warren Barnes [VP] from Schumacher, who quoted me US$1k to LA then US$3k to NZ. He said I had nothing to worry about, just leave it all to him, which I thought at the time was great. After that I had real difficulty getting a hold of him, he didn't answer his phone to calls or texts, to the point, I thought he had given me the wrong no. Then we received an invoice for US$5K - I replied to Warren and informed him what he had quoted, [$4k] his response to this being, it was an accounting error, and passed a US$1K credit, we then paid the agreed US$4K in full immediately. After that, there was no updates or communication, until I had a motor bike and 5 x tires, I wanted to also come to NZ. when I eventually got a hold of him" I asked if he could arrange collection of these, which were in a store in LA, where our car was also in their storage awaiting shipment. This clearly proved to be just too hard for him; from that point, he just didn't answer his phone or emails and actually said " He forgets texts " It appeared obvious, that he really wasn't that interested, and it didn't look like our car was going to be shipped anytime soon. I thus asked whether, he would prefer us to make alternative arrangements, to ship our car and goods, which he agreed, he would prefer and in fact, said he was "Super Happy" for us to do so, this was on October the 3rd. We then arranged for another shipper to collect the car and in turn, asked for our US$3k Back. On October the 5th, WB advised he had processed the refund. On October the 16th, as we had not seen the funds returned, we enquired, as to when we could expect them. He replied with, "refunds normally take a month " to process and we should see it around the 4th of November. On October the 27th our accounts lady enquired as to progress on the above. We in turn received a reply, stating it was now in the hands of their payables, "but it wasn't due until November the 4th." Further if it didn't make the list for payment on Friday, it would be the following Friday. This email was tagged with "that they were also deducting US$300.00 for handling! The money US$2,700.00, after their [ not agreed] deduction finally arrived in our bank account this morning, the 8th of November. As per my heading, never again would we deal with this company and or its VP, a very difficult, unpleasant and challenging experience.
