I recently received an email about renewing my policy, and since I was happy with Tesco Insurance, I didn’t look for alternatives. However, when my first instalment went out of the bank, I noticed it was £40–£50 higher than before. When customers renew their policies, they usually expect the price to stay the same or be lower — not to see such a significant increase. I called customer service to discuss this, but they seemed uninterested in customer retention. Instead, they quickly explained the cancellation charges and process. I ended up cancelling my policy and found a much cheaper deal elsewhere.

I'm a Tesco fan and ex employee and still use their services like shopping and banking but have moved my car insurance after shocking experience. Had an accident where oil tanker struck me from behind at 56mph in a camera controlled 50mph section of M4, how straightforward can it get? Took Tesco a full year to award me a no fault judgement and in the interim they charged me £1150 for one year insurance that had been around £350 with them up until then. Once cleared to no fault they refunded me £330 only leaving me approx £450 out of pocket Car was a write off and they handled that fine and staff are very good. I just saw the financial side as a simple rip off of a good customer and they never gave any proper explanation to counter that during many contacts via e mail and phone so I've gone and won't return So maybe quite good generally but don't have a no fault accident!!!

I rang Tesco to say I’d received a much lower quote online with Tesco so wanted to know why this was. The lady who took my call was very helpful and after checking all the details I gave her, she came back with a much better deal than the online quote and the renewal offer I’d received. So a very happy outcome.
