I am almost at a loss to put into words how terrible my experience of Mystery Kits has been. I bought a shirt for my 13 year old nephew at Christmas 2023. I bought a size 14-15 (based on their measurements). When he opened it, he loved the shirt, however when he tried to put it on it wouldn't even get over his head, the head hole was so small. It was clearly a fault with the shirt (head hole diameters are not given on the website), so I contacted them on 29th December to arrange an exchange for another shirt. They initially replied right away saying this would be fine, however we would have to pay the return postage fee and also the postage for sending a further shirt out.
I would understand this if it was simply a case that he didn't like the shirt and we wanted to change it, but it wasn't - he loved it but it was obviously a faulty item, the neck size was clearly for a much younger child. We replied immediately on 29th Dec to explain we did not think we should be out of pocket in terms of postage due to a fault with the item, but we did not receive a response.
I emailed them again on 5th January, still no response.
I then send a message via Facebook Messenger on 9th January - still no response.
We then gave in and returned the shirt at our expense on 26th January and, as of today, over 3 weeks later, have not received a replacement shirt.
I sent them another email on 5th February sending a copy of receipt of postage of the return - no response.
I sent them another Facebook Messenger post on 10th February - no response.
I have today sent them a message through their Contact Us form on their website saying if I do not hear back in the next 5 working days I will be contacting the Competition & Markets Authority for advice on how to progress this matter, as I'm totally at a loss to know how to move this matter forward. It should not take 7 communications to sort out a simple return.
I am staggered at the abysmal customer service from Mystery Kits and would recommend anyone else stays way clear. You know a good business by how it responds and resolves issues such as this, and Mystery Kits have not definitely shown themselves to be a good business.
