This is a follow up post from a review I originally made in January, I`ve left a similar update on CW Sellors site as well, as they are Jura`s parent/sister company. I`ve just resolved this issue & wanted to share my experiences with you.
Bought an expensive watch 1st week in January from Jura, it arrived, wasn`t to my style so I returned in its original packaging, never thinking that I should perhaps firstly examine it in detail. The crystal was immaculate so thought no more of it.
I`m dealing with a reputable family owned company - the largest independent business of its kind in the UK so the sales narrative goes, so nothing to worry about here.
So you might think.
A week later I was informed by the Ashfield site where the returns dept is based, informing me that they had detected evidence of wear & tear & wouldn`t be offering a refund as per T & Cs.
The watch was on my wrist for literally seconds. I was very confused unable to comprehend how this could happen & thinking that some mistake had occurred.
The chap in returns was adamant that the watch was immaculate "a pristine piece" to use his words, which prior to despatch has been through Jura Watches rigorous & comprehensive QC protocols.
He provided several sets of pre-despatch photographs in support of his argument. From the photos there was indeed evidence of damage to the bezel & crown, there is no disputing that. My argument was that the watch was sent to me in that condition. Absolutely not said the returns dept, it was not possible that Jura would send a watch out that wasn`t brand new & that hadn`t been fully subjected to the strictest of Jura Watches QC criteria.
After 2 weeks of frustrating e-mails I decided to seek help from the finance company to raise this as a complaint. That was in January 2025. Soon after I submitted my original complaint I looked at Juras pre-despatch photographs again, only to discover that the photos did indeed show clear & unequivocal evidence of damage to the watch prior to despatch.
What a relief & I can send these to the finance company & this sorry, shabby episode can be over in no time.
So you would think given the evidence. But no.
Since January my finance company has encountered exactly the same stance, denials, disclaimers, bluffs, referencing T & C`s insisting that I had caused the damage to the £3500 watch, that i was dishonest and they, a commercial partner basically got nowhere.
Jura these are your pictures, who at Jura was looking at the evidence? Who was taking responsibility of safeguarding the company name!! So very bizarre.
At last a breakthrough of sorts. The finance guys in June contacted me to say that Jura proposed the following solution.
Jura finally accepted that the watch was damaged prior to despatch but claimed "that the watch was returned more damaged than when they sent it out?"
After spending 5 months denying that the watch was damaged at all I was somewhat surprised at this admission.
Jura offered to polish the watch to "like new" for another £135.00 & return it to me. Draw your own conclusions as to my response.
The finance company agreed the £135.00 repair cost just to finally draw a line under this - so allowing Jura to re-market the Bremont Terra Nova back on the web site. Look out for it - circa £3.5k green face, silver bezel. Lovely looking watch - Its 2nd hand.
I rec`d a monetary award from the finance company for the 5 months of delay & distress, a refund of my deposit, cancellation of my finance agreement & satisfyingly Jura lost a sale. Dishonesty should never be rewarded.
I can sense peoples frustration on the TrustPilot website, there`s a fundamental trust issue relating to this company & reading the reviews its not simply a case of a one-off occurrence. It is systematic sharp practise. Protecting the business concerns of the company is one thing, passing off faulty goods as new, dismissing legitimate concerns as false, planting doubt in customers minds, hiding behind T & Cs, falsely accusing customers of damage - is tantamount to bullying & might very well work on vulnerable people.
Thankfully I`ve proven that cheats don`t always prosper, that they`ve lied & I`m happy to share this review it if helps a reader avoid what I`ve gone through over the past 5 months.
I`ve gone to the trouble of verifying my identity to support this review.
I`ve taken the step further of approaching the accreditation bodies that Jura are happy to tag onto all marketing material to draw attention to this companies dubious activities.
CW Sellors do enjoy an indignant, outraged "we have been wronged" TrustPilot response to reviews they don`t like. There`s no spin on this one Mr B.
I only ever wanted to buy a watch. I didn`t want all this hassle.
