As a former employee

As a former employee, let me tell you a little bit about what happened while I was there, and what I know is about to come, based upon inside hearings, and general knowledge. I got promoted to a full-time inventory coordinator (IC) back in August 2022. I was informed that I would always make more then a keyholder, because of the position I had, and the responsibilities I had. When one of the keyholders hit his next year status, his pay automatically went higher then mine. I asked the district manager if I would then get a raise because of what I signed the contract for. He said no, because that was a yearly raise, and it doesn't count. So I told him I was going to quit, and find somewhere else to go because it was against the contract. He said he would talk to his bosses about the raise, his mom conveniently died during this process, so he was gone for three months. My brother passed away, and I took two days off, the day before, and the day of his passing. My DM ripped my boss a new one because I took two days off, in a row, and how dare he allow the IC to take time off during the busy season, and put all our inventory behind. He simply explained that I had to take time off for the passing of a sibling, and that the store was aware of it, since my brother was on hospice and we knew the day would eventually come. He (The DM) never gave me his condolences when he saw me, he just told me I need to push my team harder in getting freight out in 24 hours (at the time I didn't have a team, I was the only one pushing freight). Right around this time, my boss was telling me that the company might be going under some major changes, so it might just be him and I running the whole store until they figure out the new program. He also said that he thinks his job, and many others, are at jeopardy. A few weeks later, they let my boss go (due to underperforming as a store) but they did that falsely. They never sent in extra help, never trained him, or the team properly, and they expected everything to get done in minutes, while having the store open, and needy customers around. I put in a three week notice shortly after that. I also got a week of PTO to use during those three weeks, which my manager, and our DM had no issues with me using them. While I was on my week of PTO, I was informed (by a former team member) that the company decided to let me go. So I called HR and the DM to clarify it and all I got was "return your keys, it's against policy to take PTO while on your notice, and don't return back to the store." They never paid me, and I fought the state on that for unemployment/lay off, and Jo-Ann simply stated that I "voluntarily left, and didn't follow policies." The state took their side, I still have my keys, and no money from them. I stated I will not be returning the keys until I get paid. This company is for sure money hungry, and they do not care about their employees, they also do not care that customers are leaving left and right either.

Lack of customer service

My address auto populated from an old order or something, I was never prompted for my address, and it is shipping to the wrong address. I used the PayPal option to pay, so can only guess that's why I wasn't prompted to review it, but my address is correct in PayPal, so still baffled on what it's my old address. Once the order is placed, you cannot fix the address or cancel the order, even when the address doesn't even match your payment method. I tried within seconds of seeing it and called the moment the "customer service" line opened. The order hasn't even processed yet. They don't care on any level to make sure your order is going to the right place. Definitely will not be spending another penny with them.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!

If I could give 0 Stars I would! I ordered 3 items from them. I got an email saying that one Item shipped, another was processing, and one was cancelled. When I went to check the "processing" order, it says it shipped. 2 Weeks after getting my first item, I checked to see where my last item was. It says "Delivered!". It was NOT. After calling support over 6 times, & messaging with them 4 times, I was informed that BOTH of my items were cancelled, and nothing else had ever shipped. I check my account, and see that I was not charged for the other two items, HOWEVER i still ended up having to pay $20 in total for my item that costed $3.89 total. I would have never paid THAT MUCH for SHIPPING on an item that cost $3.00!!!! & had they informed me the biggest item in my order was cancelled, I would have requested the whole order be cancelled. Absolutely ridiculous. Customer service was laughable, nobody answered my questions, and when i asked to dispute this absurd shipping fee they disconnected. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND EVER!! I am out $20 over a $3 order, with no response. SAVE YOUR MONEY, go to Hobby Lobby.

Love the selection

Love the selection, and prices when marked, and music that’s not blaringly loud. Yesterday at the Metcalf location, I had been looking for a price check for three items that didn’t have a price. Asked a youngish lady cutting fabric, harried which is understandable, if there was one. She yelled out abruptly, “No”. That was it. I almost picked a number and stood in line merely to get the price but one encountered yer was enough for discomfort. Not necessary. Many prices unfortunately aren’t marked and the price determines whether I add to my basket or not right? And after standing in the now current long lines I didn’t want to take up the time of the cashier asking for prices then determine what I’d keep. Yep. Everywhere is short staffed…no need to be rude. She could’ve been recommended I stand in line, wait my turn and she’d scan them. Every time. It’s the sewing/cutting ladies (NOT the older one with chin length white hair) that are pissed off and zero help.

Site won't let me use verified valid…

Site won't let me use verified valid gift card. Overseas customer service clueless as well as local store employees. Now site is not functioning when payment needed. This corporation is a MESS!! Will NEVER let family give me another gift certificate from here! Oh, & corporate # hangs upon after recorded message!! 11-13-23

Out of stock item

Out of stock item. Was advised to go online (no offer of help). Item was available for shipping, but I could not apply coupon code and it wouldn't change shipping charges to sale of 2.99 for all shipping, and this was the last day. I wasted more time both in-store and online.

I purposely ordered a whole bolt

I purposely ordered a whole bolt, more fabric than I needed because I needed at least 6 yards in one piece. All 3 bolts of fabric are cut into 2-3 yard pieces. That was literally more work to package my order. All you had to do was grab a new bolt and ship it out the door. Now I have all this fabric I’m having to return in hopes they have an entire bolt in store. AND I didn’t get a discount for ordering the whole bolt

I placed an order online on 11/08/23 but never got a conformation email. Next day I looked at my bank account and I had 2 different Joann charges pending. I contacted them by email and they say they didn't receive my order. But they charged my account! Now what!

I purchased some yarn from Joann’s and…

I purchased some yarn from Joann’s and put in the wrong address. I contacted them immediately to fix it and was told they couldn’t make any changes to order once they’re placed. This has got to be the worst customer service policy on record. I’m out 52.00 since I have no way to get my stuff. They did offer to reimburse me if I couldn’t retrieve my stuff. But what kind of BS policy is this for online sales. I doubt I’ll ever purchase anything from them again online

Still waiting for an item ordered on line........

A followup to the order. I was just emailed today 10-31 (18 days after I placed the order) that they lost the remaining part of my order and was issued a refund. I may reorder via phone for same price for free ground shipping. No thank you! I placed an order for six items on October 14 and was charged $2.99 shipping. So far I have had 5 items delivered in three shipments. (Seems expensive for the company) It also split the order into 4 different payments for each shipment. The last item has been waiting to be picked up by FedEx since October 21. It was supposed to be here October 26, which I thought was too long. I had planned on using my items last weekend with friends. Yesterday FedEx told me to contact Joann. Joann said they would expedite the shipment. Today it still has not shipped. Frustrating to say the least. I will not be ordering any items to be shipped from them again.

Ordered 5 of the same items online on…

Ordered 5 of the same items online on October 6th for cupcakes I had due on the 20th. Processing took over a week and shipping must have been by horse and buggy. I got a notification saying would be here on the 19th. 19th came and nothing. Then shipping said on its way. Needless to say I didn’t receive item til 9 pm on the 21st. A day later then I needed them. Never again will I order online.

Joann Online ordering NIGHTMARE!!

I placed 3 orders on October 6, 2023. I've received one. For the other two, now 11 days later, one is still "processing". For the other one, I received email from joann that stated it had been shipped. However, according to their Narvar tracking, it is still awaiting pickup by the carrier a week later. On that Narvar tracking page, it states "Fedex", but provides an obvious USPS tracking number. When I went to USPS tracking and entered the number, I get "status unknown". I had contacted joann customer service through their contact page on their website on Oct 15th, received email response from "Armando", who didn't seem to understand my question about that order that is still processing and didn't answer my question about the one that had been "shipped". I replied back to him, but he did not respond to my response. I will not place any online orders for Joann ever again, though I may or may not shop inside one of their stores. Unfortunately, the closest Joann store to me is over 20 miles away..

Horrible customer service

Horrible customer service. I ordered plates for a party. They held the order for a week not bothering to ship it. I called to explain that the party was coming up and that I needed them by a certain day. They finally shipped the order and it’s arriving a day after the party. Shipping time was supposed to be 6-10 days so I knew I had that time, but the order will take 13 days to arrive.

If I could give negative stars I would. This location completely goes against the policy of Joann Fabric and Crafts, most importantly their manager Maria Garcia, allows it. I placed an online order for pick up for a Cricut Maker 3 and was notified it had been picked up. I immediately called to let them know that it was not given to me or anyone in my family and was informed that the person had my last name and order number so they gave it to them, yet their website states a valid ID is required to pick up which was not provided. Instead of them offering to refund me or get a replacement Cricut I was told I could call the police if I wanted to, or my credit card company. When I asked if Maria had been the one to give my order to the individual she said no her colleague had, but she knew he gave my last name and order number and placed an item on hold under the same name.

The Odana road store in Madison…

The Odana road store in Madison Wisconsin is a total disgrace! Stuff laying all over boxes everywhere. The public restroom is absolutely awful! Floor is filing, no toilet paper, garbage over flowing plain disgrace, I won’t go back!! Michael get my service!!

If there was a negative 5 star review…Joann’s sucks

If there was a negative 5 star review, this organization and their customer service would get it. I placed an order that was time sensitive to a project…all I got was “it’s processing” and after 3 non responsive emails and a non responsive text I received the equivalent of an “0h well” and a shoulder shrug, we don’t have your items…we’re soooo sorry…this after several non responsive days of waiting. Well, I’m not sorry… customer service is not only less than efficient, its lack of response in a timely manner is rude and disrespectful to customers…it SUCKS!

Beware of ordering online

I ordered a sewing machine online as they did not have in store when I got the machine I quickly decided it would not hold up to my kind of marathon sewing as I could see how cheaply it was made so I out it back in the box and tried to return it and was told I could not return it because it had been opened. How on earth would I know what a piece of crap it was if I did not open it. So beware even tho it does not say that anywhere you can not return things that have been opened That is the last order Joanns will ever get from me and I spent a good deal of my budget there. Just wanted others tp be aware
