My claim started over 3 and a half years ago. Deborah and her associates have been incredible since day 1, always very patient with myself and the communication was impeccable, if I ever needed clarification on any matter they were outstanding in explaining in a way I understood. Excellent service

Rubbish service and very very expensive.

I had a simple enquiry to ask for help re a property matter - there was no ring back after 4 days and then after another telephone enquiry I was told that before I could even speak to a lawyer to see if Irwin Mitchell can help that I would have to deposit £12,000 with them. Crazy What upsets me most is it looked like Irwin Mitchell decided that for whatever reason they didn’t want my business so they ignored the initial enquiry. This has cost me time - if Irwin Mitchell didn’t want to help they could have been upfront and not just delayed and hoped I’d go away. Then when I called again 4 days later and after having explained the whole thing again I was asked to hold and was promptly cut off. No call back so I rang back yet again “sorry we are having trouble with our phones” - really was it so much trouble Irwin Mitchell couldn’t have called me back when they cut me off (I wasn’t sure I heard a snigger in the background)- then to ram home the point - no you can’t speak to a lawyer unless you have paid a deposit of £12,000. I only wanted a quote for the work to issue a property notice that in extreme would take a few hours work. My family and I have been using Thomas Eggar and lately Erwin Mitchell since the 2nd world war we have always paid our bills. Christopher Doman and Tony Edwards would never have treated me or my father or even my grandfather that way - they respected their clients and their clients time and further they never asked for such a large deposit to do such a small amount of work - let alone to charge to quote or at least give me an idea as to how long it might be expected to take them. Greedy, self serving and the client’s interests are not the priority - comes to mind - at no point did I feel looked after.

Legal claim against an negligent builder

Irwin Mitchell (I.M.) were appointed to pursue my legal case against a builder that accidentally, but negligently, destroyed a significant part of my property while working for my neighbour. They instructed a paralegal (Spencer Lawn) to gather all the material facts and prepare a case against the builder prior to officially holding him liable and to account for approximately £200Ks worth of damage. Spencer and the I.M. law firm were exceedingly professional throughout and kept me regularly informed of the progress of my claim against the builder and of the responses from the builder's own legal representatives. My claim was belatedly settled via my house insurers (after the financial ombudsman's intervention!) and my legal suit was thankfully discharged before it went to court etc. But this in no way detracts from my positive opinion of Irwin Mitchell and of Spencer in particular. I would happily recommend them for issues similar to my own. Very professional, experienced, pro-active and courteous.

A simple enquiry for help with a…

A simple enquiry for help with a Medical Negligence claim against a former GP Surgery. I gave a brief summary of what happened and fully hoped to speak to a solicitor about the matter - getting free advice. I then got an E-Mail starting Dear Pratt (not Dear Mr. Pratt) from a Client Experience Expert saying that he's looked at my case and decided that Irwin Mitchell can't help me as the case doesn't meet their criteria. He doesn't explain what the criteria is. Sent stiff but polite E-Mail to him requesting further explanation of his snap decision. He is not a legal expert in any sense of the word. The majority of responses on Trustpilot from Irwin Mitchell are from Client Experience Experts aka Customer Services Agents judging by the E-Mail address. Maybe they do only help rich people. I had a bad experience with this firm a few years ago, so things haven't changed much judging by the one star Trustpilot reviews. Update: After liaising with Customer Service, I received an explanation, apology and a reassurance that the person concerned would be spoken to regarding their behaviour and the fact that they sent me an E-Mail which was incorrect and inaccurate. Therefore, this was a reasonable resolution and no further action was needed.
