Very poor service and still waiting for refund. Changed collection venue at short notice, delivered in error and failed to specify when booking that venue closed for returns at weekends. Customer service poor until I finally (after about 2 hours managed to find someone who understood the issue and he was excellent)
The machine was cross hired through another supplier, I asked for the machine in the morning on Friday and it didn’t turn up until 16:40 that day, so I effectively lost 1 days hire I’d paid for. I was lied to constantly by the supplier when I called up to get an ETA, first it was 10am, then 12:30, then 3pm. I called HSS and they assured me I would be refunded for that days hire. When it came to the collection day on Monday the supplier didn’t collect it, I called HSS and they chased them arranging for it to be collected on Wednesday. I then got a call on Tuesday by the driver saying he was there to collect it. I was at work so couldn’t do anything. I then received an email and charge for “failed collection”. Again I called HSS, they eventually refunded the failed collection charge but still did not refund the lost days hire. Miraculously the person I spoke to had no knowledge of this there were ‘no notes on the system’. I offered to provide cctv footage to confirm delivery times etc but they wouldn’t accept this. HSS refused to refund that lost days hire.
Informative well presented SPA course by Andy in Gateshead. Took a lot from the course, easy to follow and intersct with instructions.

The building company I used hired a cherry picker for a day and they will not collect it and it is taking up my whole driveway. Spoken to the Brighton branch twice and both of the people I spoke to were very rude. Called head office twice one of the representatives was also rude on the phone. Both said it would be collected the next day and it is still here. Even after explaining I have an electric vehicle and need access to my drive to charge my car. My builder has also tried and is no use. Been sat for a week for one day of use. Avoid this company at all costs.

Used the Leeds branch who were very helpful and polite. Sensible advice on equipment and machinery worked well. Price very reasonable.

Ordered an item that said 48hr del. After 8 days chased and told delivered. Told them not, so they said would get proof of postage. Emailed me to say product nolonger available so god only knows how it was supposedly delivered first time. Agreed to accept an alternative but it took another week to arrive. Even if coming from an outside supplier hss need to sort it out so service matches what they advertise. Needless to say first and last time use this company

I hired a Rotavator from HSS, it started briefly then blew a load of smoke and stopped. I phoned the branch in Reading who said 'bring it back and you can take another'. I don't posses a truck or van with a tail lift so that couldn't happen. I reported this to the branch and said I would expect a refund. After several calls I then get a snarky email (below) "Please can you advise why the kit was faulty and why no breakdown was raised during the hire period due to this?" So now its basically my fault, You have taken £150 off me loaned me unusable kit, then made me out be be the bad guy. Really terrible company. P.S Check equipment before it goes out it would save everyone the bother.

We hired a dehumidifier from HSS that did a fantastic job at making us feel like living in a Mediterranean climate, but also dried the walls damaged by a leak in our bathroom. The only recommendation I would have for the HSS team is to improve communication regarding machine collection. Definitely recommend!

Booked for 3 days and only had 1 day when I turned up. Also nearly walked out without a fuel cap attached. Luckily I noticed so they team sourced one for me but not very good overall. Edit: I was part refunded yes but that is not what I wanted I wanted to hire for 3 days and I paid for 3 days. But when the email confirmation come through it was only booked for 1 day. The email confirmation when I arrived at store was the only notification I had that my 3 day hire was not authorised even though that is what I selected and that is what I paid for. Seems like a dodge scam to keep my deposit if I kept it the 3 days which I originally booked and paid for honestly.

Customer service was fantastic, one on the machines I hired randomly stopped working and the staff couldn’t be more helpful.
