Very poor service and still waiting for refund. Changed collection venue at short notice, delivered in error and failed to specify when booking that venue closed for returns at weekends. Customer service poor until I finally (after about 2 hours managed to find someone who understood the issue and he was excellent)
The machine was cross hired through another supplier, I asked for the machine in the morning on Friday and it didn’t turn up until 16:40 that day, so I effectively lost 1 days hire I’d paid for. I was lied to constantly by the supplier when I called up to get an ETA, first it was 10am, then 12:30, then 3pm. I called HSS and they assured me I would be refunded for that days hire. When it came to the collection day on Monday the supplier didn’t collect it, I called HSS and they chased them arranging for it to be collected on Wednesday. I then got a call on Tuesday by the driver saying he was there to collect it. I was at work so couldn’t do anything. I then received an email and charge for “failed collection”. Again I called HSS, they eventually refunded the failed collection charge but still did not refund the lost days hire. Miraculously the person I spoke to had no knowledge of this there were ‘no notes on the system’. I offered to provide cctv footage to confirm delivery times etc but they wouldn’t accept this. HSS refused to refund that lost days hire.
Informative well presented SPA course by Andy in Gateshead. Took a lot from the course, easy to follow and intersct with instructions.

Placed order online 6 days before needed equipment. All appeared fine invoice raised and payment made. I rang day before to try to find approximately when to meet driver on site, only to be told that over half of the equipment was unavailable and that they had arranged delivery to my home address. Frantic 2 hours trying to find alterative access equipment. If not in stock why not just say so!!!

Let down is an understatement... rang HSS Hire (birmingham office I believe), I have a large event which we require cooling. All sounded positive, yes we have loads of industrial Air Con Units, how many do you need.... We agreed a number and I paid for the weeks hire. Yes will have them there for 9am on the day; no problems. Day of large event; nothing turned up, trying to get an update is impossible. Flooring company managed to turn up, IT company turned up, chair company managed to up...but no Air Con. Extremely let down, with no explanation... shocking way to treat your customers I've asked to speak with a line manager, asked for the complaints procedure...got no where. I'd like someone from HSS Hire to contact me to discuss my refund and for me to give them real feedback.

Turned up to a branch in Alsfords to pick up an order placed and accepted online and had to wait half an hour because the guy was on lunch (unscheduled). Finally he got back and said "oh the order has been bounced to another branch you need to go there". This was over an hour round trip away. I had no notification about it. Cancelled the order and will never use these clowns ever again.

The product was exactly as specified and in a good condition. Supplied instructions (for a Rothenberger pipe freezing machine) were very easy to understand and pick up on the allotted day was smooth. I hired for an extra day and the additional amount was reasonable. A little initial confusion in a phone call with the local branch about their responsibilities vis a vis the central hss team but overall a very smooth process and I was very satisfied.

Genuinely wouldn’t go near this hire company with a 10ft pole. They are closed certain days which they don’t tell you when you’re booking. You can’t get a hold of anyone at head office and they just start whipping money out your account if you go over the booked slot (even if you get it late because they are closed) avoid avoid avoid
