Halford takes advantage

My break light fault alarm came on my dashboard. It's a difficult time at the moment and it was an extra problem I didn't need. I saw a Halford Shop and knew they did small jobs so went in to ask if they could change the bulb. They said yes and that it would take 15 mins. I came back 15 mins later and they advised me to change all 4 bulbs, two on each sides, as it was best. I took their advice. It took a further 5 mins. It came to £48.98. I thought it was a lot but presumed the bills bulbs were expensive. They offered me a free MOT (I use my trusted garage so declined) or to take my details and give me £5 off which I took. The bill would be emailed to me so I didn't get to see it there and then. When I saw the bill I couldn't believe the costs - the bulbs were £4.99 for two, so inexpensive ... their labour was £11 PER BULB changed!! No wonder they didn't just want to change the one broken bulb, but 3 more! I know I should have asked the costs and checked, but I didn't expect Halfords to completely take advantage. Won't be using them again!

I made a complaint about halfords since…

I made a complaint about halfords since June 20th 2025 and no one has contacted me like they promised...I bought a dashcam online and arranged for it to be installed via Halford in Catford .Unfortunately the dashcam wasn't compatible with the app and I decided I would like to change dashcam.I arranged an appointment to have the dashcam taken out of my car to be returned and planned to discuss an upgrade.A minute before I arrived my appt.i was told that I cannot return dashcam because it was used.At no point was I advised about this and the manager at catford refused to discuss with me.Ive made several phone calls to customer services who assured me that matter would be Investigated and someone will in touch...no one has..I'm still waiting...as far as I'm concerned Halford is the worst company to deal with when you want query or make a complaint. When they have your money they don't care My case no. is Halfords Customer Services: 26479136 ...I've rang sent emails to no avail...this company is rotten to the core. I will be submitting notes everyday until something is sorted..I will not stop

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years…

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years ago from the edge lane Liverpool Halfords on the ride to work system the person who sold me the bike told me while the bike was being built it’s a bit of a crap bike as it is one of the cheaper models 🤔 they have and was trying to dupe me into buying a seven hundred to a thousand pound bike so he’d get more commission 🤨 on the sale lucky I know sales tactics he also told me I wouldn’t go on any big rides because it was such a rubbish bike 😒 funny that as I ride most weekends the furthest I’ve been from Liverpool upto now on my cheap bike Delamere forest all round Chester and wales not bad for a crap bike 😃 anyway finally the back wheel started grinding as I know a bit of bike maintenance myself it turned out to be the ball bearings in the spindle so called Halfords to see if they have my wheel in stock and was told yes thought great stuff got to the Halfords on edge lane asked about the wheel got told oh no we don’t stock that we do for the expensive bikes but not yours then got told try Quinn’s down the road they sent me to the competitor also by the way they don’t do the wheel I need😞 so had to rely on Amazon to save the day got the wheel I needed fitted it I’m back on the road again 😁 how can a bike shop sell you a bike but not have the parts in stock to fix it ridiculous practice whatever happened to the customer is always right if I what an expensive bike I’ll buy one not get sales bullied into it Halfords you need to send your staff on a training course to learn not to bully customers into buying bike they don’t want or need also learn them to offer advice in a better manner I was very disappointed in the Halfords experience this much 😞🤨🧐😔☹️😟😕😠🤔

Visited Bolton Halfords today

Paul is outstanding. I visited Halfords store, Bolton today; 6th June, looking for an eBike. A tech-savvy guy took the time, to talk me through all the state-of-the-art bikes at length, plus the helmet, top-of-the-range lights and other equipment I’ll need. He was well-informed. He got me a sturdy lock, and care plan, too. He also helped my mum find the right windscreen wiper. He signed us up to the premium motoring club. Paul was really helpful. I’ll be revisiting soon.

I could could give this review I really would, I ordered my bicycle that came today after a week of waiting for delivery. The bicycle came I got home from work all excited to start ridding my bike as I paid for the bicycle to be built,took the cycle out of the huge box it came in, put the peddles on that was great time for me to aligned the wheel and the handle bar and this was where the problem is after straighten the front wheel and the handle bar the handle bar was not tightening back, I stood there for 15/20 minutes turning and trying all direction until I was sooo frustrated I call the customer service teal which said the bike can either be taken into store not a option as they have closed down my local store or get the bike collected and they will re-order the bike ones it’s been collected which mean I am going to 2-3 weeks without a bike which I am now using as my source of journey to home and back. As I got my friends over to help me with the handle bar only to finally read the instructions and there was a part missing after 1 hour of fixing the bike only to find out that Halfords or the manufacturer couldn’t even be bothered to put all the parts in the box and because of this I am now stuck with a box in my hallway with is between 8-9 inches because they couldn’t even be bothered to check that all the parts was in the box. what a completely waste of time. I do need a bike I problem won’t go back to Halfords and just get a refund for the bike and accessories. I am honestly so angry and upset the service is disgusting

Battery warranty not guaranteed!

Recently had a full service done by Halfords (National Tyres, Street) & was informed on Health Report that the battery had failed a drop test & 'needs fixing'. They included, on the report, a quote for a replacement battery which I decided not to go-ahead with as I could possibly find a cheaper unit elsewhere. On checking my records when I got home, I discovered that the battery was supplied by Halfords in 2021 with a 5 year guarantee. I visited the Bridgwater shop to sort out a replacement battery but was told that the fault wasn't covered under the warranty! Apparently they only honour the guarantee if it's a manufacturing fault so the drop test was not relevant even though it failed. Conclusion: Always read the small print with the guarantee then take your custom somewhere else.

Review of Harford (Mansfield): I strongly advise against visiting this shop. Harford in Mansfield has been a complete disappointment. I’ve been there several times, and each time I was turned away with excuses — either "we don’t have time," "the service technician isn’t here," or simply no interest in helping at all. But they’re always quick to take your money when it suits them. It feels like this place only exists to make a profit, not to actually help customers. Their so-called “bike service” is just a label — in reality, there’s no support, no willingness, and absolutely no professionalism. On top of that, the staff are extremely rude and unhelpful. There's no respect for the customer, no courtesy, and definitely no interest in solving problems. Honestly, it’s a waste of time, money, and patience. Avoid Harford in Mansfield — there are much better and more honest bike shops out there.

Incredibly poor communication and service

Order for home delivery. Website said 2 to 3 days. After 10 days no sign of it. The website shows my order is being prepared? 3 calls into Halfords each with a promise of a call back, and even with case number. No call back. Issue raised with PayPal. Immediate confirmation of funds being refunded to me. Poor service from Halfords. Though staff on the phones were polite, not helpful but polite.

HELLFORDS

ordered air oil and fuel filters online for next day collection after 4...after going through checkout and paying..the collection jumped to 4 days.....the email said wait for a text or email before collection....3 days after my collection date still no messages.......I called main customer service...to be told my order was ready.....and my local Halfords...just forgotten to message me because they must have been busy.... GREAT SERVICE GUYS
