I have been a customer for a long time —I bought the choc brownies as they were boxed for gifts.—————I placed a order and stipulated that my order be boxed ( as the last one wasn’t } only to receive them loosely .I was unable to give my 5 boxes as Easter gifts to friends Not even a sorry from Donald Russell sadly I won’t be ordering brownies again Customer service is not the best and noticed that reviews are removed

I have been a regular customer for a couple of years but recently am seeing prices rise and quality falling far short of what I expect for what I am paying. The final straw for me was a beef wellington supposed to be 1.1k but was much smaller than previous orders had been and when served found to be only filling at each end with meat barely enough to serve two not four as advertised. Will not use again.

This meat is how it is supposed to be. It’s absolutely gorgeous. Yes, it’s a bit hard on the pocket but it’s absolutely worth the extra to get the quality. We bought a good assortment of goodies and haven’t yet tried them all. The pies are to die for!! Full to the brim with lots of meat! Beautifully made too. I will be ordering from you again soon. Can’t recommend highly enough. PS. Everything was still frozen solid it was packed so well in a big polystyrene box with loads of ice packs etc. just a shame there’s no way to reuse the boxes /-(

We have used Donald Russell for some years now and have recommended them to friends and family. Until recently we have always been delighted with items from this company. However, I was a little disappointed with some of the items in my most recent order. The cottage/cumberland/shepherds pies were in larger, but shallower trays, and not as tasty as previous versions. The pies in pastry were not as nice either. Sadly the Lamb Hot Pot Pies, which has been a favourite of ours is no longer available. Wondered why these things had changed, and did an internet search that revealed DR has been sold to The Vestry Group. I will not buy most of these items again, as they are no better than ordinary supermarket versions and are more expensive. Such a shame.

Said my order would arrive on th 15th and it did, the sausages were the first cooked, the best, I have tried so many to try and get the flavour I remembered (yes I am old) and these did not disappoint. Again with the bacon, never seemed right, had a bacon sarnie for breakfast today, totally yummy. The rest of the items, well you'll have top wait as they are in the freezer at present. The peice of pork, so didi and just the right size for one to have a roast on one day, and cold meat and fry-up the next, can't wait. The little pudding will be with my roast dinner , again can't wait. Will I return to DR , you bet. Thank you for making my food better.

Have used DR for many years for my meat. Meat is usually excellent, delivery is good, and your office staff are very helpful. However I have to agree the Barnsley chops I had in last order were not up to standard.

Order delivered to the wrong address. When I told DR this I was made to feel like an idiot. Numerous telephone calls asking me to check around my property. After three days DR agreed to replace the order. Then called to be told items in the order not available and had to accept a substitute product. When order redelivered the delivery instructions were not followed. As in previous reviews increase in prices versus decrease in quality is becoming a problem.

We haven’t bought anything since Christmas, Turkey was poor, pork and beef not as good as previous years, prices have gone up, the beef rib trim was a favourite but too expensive now.

I have always been very happy with the excellent service and quality of meat, fish and ready made meals I have received from DR over a period of 15/16 years. Never had any problems. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Unfortunately since moving from Bexleyheath to Rochester 8 months ago the delivery company DHL have let them down badly. Twice 2 orders had to be replaced and a third only just made it as not delivered on time. They were in card board boxes. The polystyrene boxes are the better option but where I live now it is disposing of them that is the big problem. I therefore reverted to the card board boxes which are fine if order, as said before, is delivered on time, although involves an extra cost. Plus on two other occasions DHL not having rung the bell, I was in, just left my order on door step.!!! A good butcher is very hard to find these days. With DR you know where the meat etc comes from not like pre-packed from super-markets. As they say you only get what you pay for.

The quality of the meat is always good the delivery is always prompt

I am disabled and find it difficult to get to town I rely on deliveries and find Donald Russell excellent for quality and offers worth the extra money for good food!

From Beef Wellingtons to Crab Claws, Donald Russell brings quality to the table. We've enjoyed pre-cooked Shin of Beef and Lamb Shoulder, when we have many to feed.

Like many other reviewers we are long time customers.Recent orders have been of lower quality, price increases I can understand given inflation,but not the drop off in quality.For example, have frequently ordered Barnesly lamb chops, the last order ,they were so tough and fatty that the final 6 of the order were used in a curry !

The steaks are to die for melt in the mouth always delivered on time and well packaged,if you eat steak then you need to try Donald Russell you will not be disappointed

All my meat is bought from Donald Russell and I have been a customer for over 10 years. There is a wide range of choice and all at a good price. There are regular special offers. The ordering of the meat is easy, whether online or by phone, the delivery service is always within the given timeframe. The packaging gives the confidence that the meat arrives in the best condition. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Donald Russell.

Excellent products at reasonable price and delivered on time.

I enjoy most things from Donald Russell, although there are certain items I'm not keen on the taste of, such as the lasagne and the duck confit. I like that most of the meat is grass fed, this is something I look for and find important. I do find the prices very expensive and only ever buy as a treat for special occasions and when the items are on offer, although they do often have good offers available. Their steaks, especially the T-bone steaks, the black pudding, the pies and beef wellington are all amazing and I would highly recommend them. Delivery is good, tends to be quick and I like that you can pick your delivery date. I've never had any issues with the delivery service, everything always arrives in good condition and still frozen. I have never had to contact the customer service, so I cannot comment on this. Overall I would recommend Donald Russell, but maybe more for special occasions.

A friend recommended DR some years ago and we, a retired couple, have never had any reason not to purchase from you. We only have meat - all types of steaks, beef, lamb, pork - and we weren't too pleased with your 'ready meals' so gave that up. Meat is always excellent, delivery is good, and your office staff are very helpful. Not cheap, but so what!
