Always deliver on time and easy to deal with. Have had the confit duck legs several times in the past and always enjoyed them. However now they have changed from the free range French ones to British (I'm assuming not free range?) i was disappointed in the taste of these the quality was nowhere near as good so sadly will not be ordering again.

Again just got my order same best ever remarkable beef and pork tnxxx again 👹

Ordered their gammon steaks and they were very poor quality.They are only a little thicker than a piece of bacon, full of water when cooked and because if the thinness are tough even when cooked for a very short time.Definitely would not recommend these. Also ordered Extra trimmed rump steaks, on cooking one was very tender but the other was so tough and sinewy that not even a steak knife could cut it. We have used Donald Russell for many years, but sadly the original quality has disappeared and all too often the products are no better than some supermarket products and not as good as local butchers yet have a higher price.

We had the rump steak medallions yummy!! I cooked them slow in low oven in gravy for 3 hrs as hubby needs it melt in mouth. Such good quality beef. So tender and full of flavour.

The fish I received were half the size of those depicted in ads..The smoked bacon was hardly smoked raw and lacked flavour.. On the positive side: Steak and shrimp were A1..

I ordered a discounted chateabriand 2for 1 only one arrived I telephoned they said I had ordered wrongly although the lady on phone was very nice her supervisor wasn’t. She would not send me another withou £15 charge. I know it’s not a large amount of money but so badly handled. I will not be ordering again Your information is wrong I paid the extra money on a credit card over the phone!!! This was for postage and £5.00 extra for second chateabriand.

Meat is much to lean: Steak burgers once cooked in the oven were dry and tasteless, they were so lean that I didn’t even need to wash the baking tray that I used to cook them on. the beef mince wasn’t much better or liver, although the beef steaks were a tiny bit better. I wouldn’t recommend any of this meat I’ve tried for a keto diet especially not a carnivore it is much to lean.

I have ordered from Donald Russell many times and normally the produce is good. This order was well over £100 and when received I was surprised at the quality. The steaks were tiny half size pieces, pork chops the same, thinly cut and scraggy looking. Cheesecakes were very bland and claggy in texture and, overall, I felt like I’d been done. Customer services replied to complaint with ‘sorry but sizes of meat were cut to size stated’. That was it. No offer of small discount or any refund, nothing. I replied saying I would not be ordering again and was shocked to receive the response ‘sorry to hear about that, do you want me to remove you from our mailing list?’ Not the response expected from a butcher that advertises its quality produce and customer satisfaction. I’ve spent £100’s over the last few years, and never raised a complaint, even when a few items weren’t as expected, I usually take the good with the bad. I won’t be ordering again though after this, and would advise caution of you are expecting good size cuts and real value for money. Mrs Smith

I’ve been buying from Donald Russell for many years now and the very few problems I have had were dealt with politely and professionally by whoever it was that I spoke to. I find now that the prices seem to be rising as well as the weight of items dropping. Everything that I buy that used to be 440g is now 400g. The one that we used to buy was when they would do good deals on mince but these seem to have died away now and the mince is becoming more and more expensive and sees us buying more mince locally which we hadn’t done for years. Where I can’t question the quality or the service but the prices are becoming a bit high, or maybe it’s because I no longer work and my wife has recently passed awsy the income to the house has reduced drastically so we are noticing it more. We will still buy the meat but perhaps being more selective and enjoying the meat products instead of meals / desserts etc.

Excellent quality product expertly packaged and delivered exactly on time. More importantly, it was delicious and I will be ordering again

I placed an order and it didn't arrive. When I contacted them they blamed their couriers but their excuse didn't stand up. I eventually received a replacement but with no compensation for the inconvenience and distress it caused !! I am very disappointed both with their customer service and their ordering controls !!

After many years as a customer we thought we would respond to the 50 years celebration mail shot offer of two Chateaubriand steaks for £50. The mail shot said to order on line or call. We decided to order on line. The problem was that the special offer was not on the website so assumed it would appear during the check out process but it did not and we accidentally ordered the non special offer single Chateaubriand for £45 plus an additional 2 fillet steaks. We only realised this error after delivery. We called customer service to explain and they helpfully suggested that they would correct this by issuing a credit of one Chateaubriand added to our next order. This was satisfactory and all was well until we had a call back from customer service that this offer had to be withdrawn as a mistake had been made. This is totally unacceptable and we will now no longer buy from this company and we are posting this review to warn others so they do not get misled by these special offers mail shots which do not appear on their website.

Quick delivery and great packaging for a beautiful, tender Chateaubriand. Spot on cooking instructions. I could not fault anything.

Absolutely delighted with the quality and service from this wonderful site. Thought I’d wait until I’d eaten the produce. I’ve found it to be perfection.

Good products. All fine until something goes wrong. Then the customer is blamed for clear problems with new systems. Appalled by customer service! After some years of being a good customer and many recommendations to friends, I am not using them ever again, so many excellent competitors!

This company are exemplary. Their food deliveries are always packed with care when cooked is always very tasty. I have not got a bad word to say about them. Keep up the good work guys.

I have been using Donald Russell for a number of years. The quality of the food is good however, lately I have seen a deterioration in their customer service. On 2 occasions we have had delivery issues eg very late deliveries by their courier DHL. The last shipment was delivered 6 hours outside the expected timeline which, with hot weather, means extra deterioration of food. Some of the items in the shipment had started to thaw. Emailed their CS team only to be told they could not guarantee deliveries... May have to with to alternative provider.

Fabulous produce, so much better than supermarkets, yes it’s a little pricey and portions are smaller in comparison to supermarkets when you first look, but honestly the quality is well worth it
