Have you been charged a surcharge?

Have you been charged a surcharge on your bill for Moda? This is likely illegal, and CU should be prosecuted for this.

Actual criminals

Actual criminals! They have attempted to somehow over charge me numerous times for electricity! I have requested my own readings as fortunately my building is managed by a lovely woman and proven them they cannot charge me for a one person studio flat £265 monthly but now having to do this countless times because apparently things go in one and out the other! Not too sure if those working for Community Utilities are daft or are taught to purposely be daft. Avoid any and all managed rented flats that use this poorly managed electricity supplier. Clearly my building never conducted a single second of research especially since it took one click to find these reviews!

Awful Don't Use or Use any rental company using them??

Do not use this company or any rental companies that use this company like Moda Mercian Broad Street. ????? I moved out of the property and took readings the same day (thank god) and i emailed this information to the company the same day and said i had moved out, I chased and chased an acknowledgment and no reply, they then took a further payment in feb unlawfully without my consent from my debit card and although I was told that the payment plus my credit on the account would be refunded, this didn't happen but Community Utilies then emailed me weeks later and said I owe them money and gave false meter readings, totally different to my own readings, absolutely useless call center and business not fit for purpose, avoid them and any rental companies that use them, Ive now had to refer to a small claims court for further action to retrieve my money.

Absolutely shocking

Absolutely shocking. Incorrect bills, ignores emails for weeks. Calls just lead to “we will check in on that”. I have email chains going back months which consist of me just chasing for responses. I can’t even get a monthly breakdown of my bills (community utilities provide for very random dates). Shocking

Horrible experience, just run away if you see their name

The worst experience with any company I had in my life. Just stay away from them. The company was advertising £230 monthly all included bills for Vertus Canary Wharf. We agreed and have paid the bills they sent during my tenancy for 6 months. My tenancy ended. I received an email from them after 2 months. 1. CU told that I owe them £230. I asked for a proof and asked for the reason why I owe additional £230 from what was initially advertised. 2. CU replied me that their calculation was actually incorrect and I actually owe them £500!! :)))) 3. I asked again for a proof and reason for increase. No reply. 4. 3 months later, they asked for £500 again by ignoring my previous email. 5. Again, I asked for a proof. Of course, no reply from them again :) 6. 3 months later, they again asked for £500. 7. (You guess what I did, asked for a proof) 8. This mail loop has been continued for 2 years They keep asking me to pay £500 to them. 9. They lastly replied, and accepted that the calculation was misaccurate, and they told me that owe them £240 actually. What a company! Just like a joke :) I'm still thinking about how they can operate as a company? Anyway, I'll take legal actions against this mysterious company and make sure that everybody hears about this situtation.

The building I was living at used this…

The building I was living at used this company and it was an absolute nightmare. They sell it on the idea that they buy energy in bulk at a discount and hand those benefits down to tenants. 9 months into my tenancy and after numerous attempts to ask for rates they still couldn't tell me, after 10 months they sent me a bill for usage based on rates that were more than double national average. You pay for their incompetence. and its a high price

Awful

Awful. Our monthly bill has tripled from £304 to £900 because they’ve apparently miscalculated our prior bills?! Yet they show now evidence of the year and how this transpired. Can’t get hold of anyone, their website is useless and hilariously talks about their customer portal that you can’t even find to log into. A shambolic, cowboy of a company with no transparency or accountability.

Avoid at all costs

Similar to everyone else. Would give 0 stars if I could. Tempted to move out of our apartment just to stop using them (our apartment complex uses them for the building) Overcharged us for months (£96 per month for a one bed, and all they supply is our heating and hot water). Then realised their mistake and refunded us, and every month I get an email saying our month payment has changed (went from £96 - £30 - £41 - £55) Avoid them.

Sneaky and greedy company

Sneaky and greedy! Charge you on estimated readings that is 3 times higher than actual usage. Increase your direct debit to an amount higher than your actual bill. If you cancel direct debit, 5% surcharge will be added to each bill. That's robbery! Don't trust their readings. Submit your own readings to them at each month-end!

The WORST company I've ever had to deal with...

The worst company I've ever had to engage with. Complete lack of transparency when it comes to pricing and charging your account. I've also had multiple bills "recalculated" one of which left me with a balance totalling over £1,300 - for a 2 bed flat with two tenants, over the course of a couple months. No phone number to call and speak with someone in person only compounded by extremely long delays in responses via email. As the building I was staying at left you no other choice but Community Utilities, I decided to move out. Nonetheless, I have been charged for the period when I wasn't in the property, despite advising Community Utilities on several occasions of the date I moved out. The WORST company I've ever had to deal with. I would be very cautious entering into a tenancy agreement if your building/apartment complex use this service to provide electricity.

Truly the worst energy provider you…

Truly the worst energy provider you will ever have the misfortune of dealing with. No customer service whatsoever - only email agents who can take up to 6 MONTHS to reply to any queries. There will be queries, as they get your bills wrong regularly and then revise them when they eventually realise. Awful at every turn - avoid if possible.

Worst Company Ever to Exist

This is by far one of the worst companies I have had to deal with. If you are ever in their hands I wish you luck and recommend that you try everything in your power to find a different provider. I initially contacted them in mid August regarding a rise to my energy costs which were calculated incorrectly and I have not received a response to this day after sending around 10 chaser emails. Radio silence. I am surprised that this company are even allowed to operate.

Avoid any apartment blocks using them

Horrific experience with them. Avoid at all costs. Unresponsive to their customer service email. Taking money long since leaving the apartment and overcharging me whilst there with no explanation as to how these increases have been calculated (I was paying far less in winter months).
