Have you been charged a surcharge?

Have you been charged a surcharge on your bill for Moda? This is likely illegal, and CU should be prosecuted for this.

I can’t lie the company is as bad as…

I can’t lie the company is as bad as the reviews state, they took over a year to get my bill to me, charged me a crazy amount and they kept adding late fees for not paying at once. The only reason why I am giving two stars is cause I dealt with the loveliest advisor Ryan Mccreadie, who was not only an absolute angel on the phone but ensured all necessary issues actioned and discrepancies resolved. He is an amazing asset to the company and should be given the appropriate recognition as he deserves.

Zero Stars

Echo what others have said; utterly horrendous provider with dreadful customer service. Settled my final bill on moving out of my apartment, only to be contacted 6 months later and told they had miscalculated. No rational given as to how they miscalculated, and have failed to respond to every query I’ve sent requesting more information. Avoid at all costs, they are borderline criminal and should not be allowed to operate.

This company is an absolute poo show.

This company is an absolute poo show. (not allowed to swear) Moved out in January, sent final readings and heard NOTHING until end of July when they start chasing and threating to send to debt collection agency despite no communication we even owed anything. After nearly a month of back and forth finally set up a payment plan and have now 3 times since (in less than 2 weeks) received 2 notices saying they'd added extra charges to the account for late payment EVEN THOUGH I SET UP A PAYMENT PLAN AND MADE FIRST PAYMENT and then today I get an email with the worst punctuation threatening to get a debt collection agency on us - I have emailed twice asking them to stop but they just keeping emailing. They clearly don't know how to run a company or communicate with eachother - had nothing but problems with them from the moment we moved into the property.

One of the worst service experiences.

Try to avoid accommodations that have a contract with them. The account was difficult to set and it was merely impossible to see your previous payments online. They kept changing bills randomly - really unhelpful, especially during the pandemic. When I closed the contract in January, I informed them my outstanding payments were covered by the renting agency (several times). They never got this important message and kept telling me there was still an amount due (8 months after the end of the contract). Contacting their customer service was rude and useless - again, avoid to deal with them, if possible.

Incompetent.

Incompetent. They failed to issue me a bill since August 2022, right up to my tenancy ending in May 2023. Then send only send me a bill for the entire period in Aug 2023. Outrageous and unacceptable behaviour during a cost of living crisis.

This company is an absolute nightmare

This company is an absolute nightmare. Multiple problems over months. Their communication is almost non-existent, and when they do finally get in touch, guaranteed it will be with someone new and therefore no understanding of the prior history. No one ever deals with anything or resolves any issues.

Incompetent company

Incompetent company. Tried to charge me for my broadband, when they supply my gas and electricity. Then threatened me for non-payment despite not sending me any onboarding information. After I was onboarded, they continue to threaten me even though I am paying them monthly. Utterly incompetent.

AVOID ANY BUILDING WITH COMMUNITY UTILTIIES

AVOID ALL RENTED ACCOMODATION THAT USE COMMUNITY UTILITIES. We have been trying to get the £300 owed to us for 6 months since ending our tenancy. Unable to speak to anyone. Claiming 'issues' with billing for 6 months but cannot specify beyond that. Do not use!!!

Crooks and thieves

I've recently moved out of the Apo development due to them partnering with Community Utilities. CU have basically admitted to overcharging everyone in the development with a ficticious 20% mark-up on all heat costs. They went all around the houses to explain the validity of this made-up charge, only to be exposed as lying about it all along. Apo have now finally terminated their relationship with CU (I'm sure it's not related to the mass exodus of dissatisfied tenants who have moved out over the last couple of months, sure!), and CU have said that they will now refund all us overcharged tenants with the money they extorted from us. They are the worst company on the face of the earth, I don't expect them to be in operation for much longer at this rate. Needless to say, if you're moving into a development that uses CU as their 'utility billing provider', it's in your best financial interest to reconsider that development (and your landlords integrity for going into partnership with such a company!)

WORST COMPANY EVER

If I could rate this company minus 5 stars I would. I’m a single person living on my own in a flat. This company charges me £357 per month for my gas and water alone. I should not be paying this much at all. I have rang up a couple times to try resolve this situation but rather than the situation getting resolved there and then it gets passed onto another clueless team member. Which then the situation isn’t resolved and no one has helped me and I’m continually getting massively over charged. Honestly got to be THE WORST company I have ever dealt with. Avoid at all costs.

Awful company

Awful company - Do not move into a flat where this company are managing utilities. The bills make no sense and you get charged extortionate amounts which they are using to line their pockets no doubt. Service is non existent and they cant tell you why one month your bill is one sum and then another why its a higher sum even thou your consumption is no different. They will eventually be asked to stop trading due to the number of complaints about them. They are owned by Amber Enterprises Group Ltd - Again stay clear of this company.

Teamwork and immediate resolution

Thank you to Sophie Jerome and her classy team who resolved the start date discrepancy on my bill, arranged an immediate refund, followed up to make sure I was satisfied and have agree to monitor the account to make sure I have a more sensible re paid monthly amount set up. All in all stellar service, with a smile. My start date was a month earlier than I moved in due to a data entry error by the building. Sophie believed me, saw my tenancy contract and urgently resolved this issue. She clearly explained many options and helped me secure a refund as well as emailed and called to make sure I was happy moving forward. I would actively look for rental properties where community utilities is involved.

Useless

Charge whatever they want, take forever to send bills and then send them all at once even though I've begged to pay them for months. Website is useless, only good to advertise themselves but no obvious place to find access to a sign in portal to manage bills. Sorry if you are unlucky enough to have them as your provider, honestly making me want to move flats.

Think Twice if you are about to rent an apartment where the utilities were provided by Community Utilities (Amber) - I lived in Sienna House Sutton and I didn't receive the gov't energy support

- When I first moved in a year ago, they charged me ~390 GBP for 19 days. Apparently it was an error and it took weeks for them to adjust the bill. I was STRESSED out as I had to follow up many times and their attitude was 'don't care'. - (Even worst) The residents at Sienna House (Sutton) did not receive the monthly govn't energy support starting in Oct 2022. Community Utilities just asked us to be patient. Only until late Jan 2023, they told the residents to apply the support directly with the government. However, I had moved out at the same time and when I applied directly with the government, the government declined my application because I already moved out and asked me to arrange with Community Utilities. When I contacted them (several times), the only answer I received was a template answer every time : Pls use the government website to apply. To me, the company was just acting like a robot. I called them several times, the persons said they will get back to me....never happened ! In short, I lost 4 months of energy support and no one was helping me. # Long waiting for someone to pick up your call or email # you must be lucky in case someone talk to you # The persons talked to you would just read the scripts. They would not listen and help # You will have to give up as no one has time and energy # Completely frustrated

WROEST EVER! Just scam money stupidly

They didn't send me the bills for 6 months since we moved in, I called them 3 times and begged to pay for them. They just sent me£2500 bills and said they are 'actual' readings. Fortunately, I took pictures every month and return the correct £800 bills. Then they tried to scam me by saying they can see my electricity reading was 6335 on 31 Mar, while the actual reading today (20 Apr) is 3161. I don't know this happened is because they just want to scam people's money or my electricity reading can magically count down.

Worst service provider

If you see their name associated with the place you're going to rent, RUN! they're the worst service provider I have come in contact with EVER. their communications are terrible and they have hidden fees to make the money as they're not even a energy supplier. If you face any issues with them they're not registered with any Ombudsman and your only way will be court, so do yourself a favour and stay away as far as you can from them.
