Very expensive
Shockingly expensive. £16.75 for a salad . £7.95 for a mushroom starter. 2 coffees. 1 bottle of water. Service charge added to bill without informing us. Total £37.25. This was Liverpool. One starter ,one main. Will not be returning !
Browns Restaurants has room for improvement based on customer feedback. Customers particularly appreciate service and professional, though some mention concerns about expensive and poor quality.

Canary Wharf , the service and staff are shocking , really bad service, will not visit again
Browns Restaurants have gone down hill big time since they left Brighton. We will no longer go there!

Tried to order in Deliveroo.. All accepted and then waited... then waited... then waited.. Received a call from a rude member of the Reading restaurant.. couldn’t understand why I wouldn’t want to keep the rest of the order despite them running out of beef... No apology... Hope they go bust.
Our first venture out for a meal after lockdown as a family. We chose Browns of Liverpool,we were greeted with the waitress telling us there was no fish available at all. We chose our food and after a mix up with the wine our starters arrived,we had not all finished when mains arrived. The food was very nice but the service and interaction from staff to customers was very poor. Some training may be required.
I was taken out for a belated birthday dinner on Saturday night. After dinner at an Indian restaurant we went to Browns in Nottingham which was nearby for a final drink. A round of drinks for five consisting of two cocktails, one glass of wine one gin and tonic and one pint cost over £49. I'll leave that with you to decide whether it's a place you'd go for a drink.
Very surprised to see these reviews as I HAVE ALWAYS had good experiences here. I will be backwhen everything is normal again
We went for afternoon tea for a friends birthday, i wouldnt even bother! The sandwiches were soggy, and the cakes were so dry you could barely swallow them. My scone was rock hard that i couldnt even eat it, service was absolutely fine though. I just wouldnt reccomend this experience.
My husband and I had lunch at Browns in Kingston upon Thames. The meal was OK, nothing special, service was OK but what really annoyed us was that none of the staff were wearing masks or visors. We asked one of the waiters who said it was up to the individual and as it was hot wearing a mask for a 10 hour shift everyone had decided not to wear one. What about visors - at least they would give some protection to customers? We are in the vulnerable age group and all the staff are young, and it is the young who are spreading Covid at the moment. Won't go back until they change their policy.
Very disappointed We took a party of 7 adults for a special birthday breakfast.when they did finally bring out or order it was all mixed up and wrongAll the food came out cold including tea and coffee. NO children menu . They did apologise for there bad service . Not going to eating here I’m Nottingham branch again
We went for a eat out help out meal at Browns tonight and I have come home feeling pretty annoyed that I didn’t choose somewhere else to go to. We sat down and the table was really sticky. I think it might have been something to do with the disinfectant they used but we had fun sticking the paper menus onto the table and noisily peeling them off. I do think the waiting staff should have been wearing masks when serving our food and drinks and I wasn’t particularly impressed by their cleaning. It was just like any other night really, no special measures for COVID in place that I could see, apart from the hand sanitizer. We were a party of 4 and we all had soft drinks, main courses and just 2 desserts. I had salmon steak which had a few roasted cherry tomatoes, a truly pathetic amount of green salad and about 8 chips. All for £15. Two people had burgers which were again literally just burgers and some chips. The desserts were of more acceptable portions. I was astounded by the bill. With £40 off, it still came to £57. Imagine if we didn’t get the £40 off! A service charge of almost £9 was slapped on which I think is very cheeky given that we were barely served. I have vowed never to go there again.
After many months of stress, this was a welcome treat. The food was amazing and the staff delightful. Thank you for making thing feel 'normal'
Despicable rude service scared my children I had to ring the police on a member of staff
I had to come on here to express my thanks to the team at Browns, we had such a great experience for our first meal after lockdown. Highly recommend!
We booked for 5 people last Saturday in Reading. The service was great. One of us is veggie. All I can say is if you are vegetarian eat before you go. The tart was woefully inadequate as a main meal. The difference in the quantity of food served just didn't make sense. It will affect whether we go again.
Went to Browns, Reading on Saturday night with friends, when I came to pay, I used their gift cards only to be told they were out of date, even though no date on the card. I book our Companies Christmas Party, we won't be going back to Browns. If businesses treat customers in this way, simply stop going there.
Overpriced. Poor service. Crammed into a booth I could write loads however I suspect you get it We went Browns in Maddox Street for Xmas day lunch at £85 a head. For that money you would expect a certain standard with drinks on top of that It is not a place I would recommend
So disappointing, we chose Brown's for our business Christmas meal because it had a wonderful gluten free menu and veggie options! We booked it in October and today 21.12.19 we arrived to find instead of pumpkin & chestnut soup (without being informed) I was given a pretty thick parsnip puree. My main was a risotto of butternut squash and beetroot... I REALLY COULD NOT EAT IT!!! RAW RICE SMOTHERED IN MELTRED BUTTER AND SOME BEETROOT SLICES. I HAD TO SEND IT BACK... THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE I could eat on the menu except salad... Not very appealing in December rain! I held out my hopes for chocolate brownie and honey comb ice cream.... So tasteless! What a shame... My husband ordered the festive menu... Also not impressed... Sorry but it was a boo!!!!
Visited browns york store. Restaurant very dirty. And woman called Shirley with the peacock hair very rude and up her own. Didn’t make me feel welcome at all. Please browns sort your staff out.
Have visited their Mayfair branch several times - result good. This time visited their local branch at Shad Thames London. Asked waiter to make sure the Sunday lunch offer was being freshly cooked before we ordered. He checked with kitchen who said it was. What turned up was a soggy mess of microwaved veg. that was just warm. I can't believe they get away with this on a regular basis. They have a smart restaurant in a prime position - we don't expect gourmet food but at £18 per main course it should at least be freshly cooked. The manager took the main courses off the bill and told us that the veg. - which is the main part of a roast - is cooked at 12pm and 3pm - so if you eat after 1pm and 4 pm you are being served re heated food. The place was a third full so the cooks have plenty of time to produce fresh cooked food! Ordered the cheese plate and that was £11 for 4 small pieces of bland cheese - the Sancerre was good at £38 - but all they had to do with that was chill it and open it. They have no idea - avoid.
A nice enough Sunday dinner at the Browns in Leeds. The food was very good, very tasty in fact - however, the automatic service charge of 10% is a real turn off. The service charge added makes this a 3 star and not a 4 ~ in terms of value for money, not the best. I can't really recommend on this basis.
Had to leave and cancel our booking at the table - so bad. The dining experience is atrocious and they don’t get it! The George Street Restaurant is not remotely interested in providing a pleasant dining service. I was joining a group of friends in their new restaurant. The meal was booked and confirmed under an offer from a third party website. They were not aware of the offer and we invited the manager in from the beginning to resolve the situation. After about six opportunities the manager agreed to honour the deal with no apology or humility. By this time he has completely killed the dining experience before we has even started. Our group of eight friends split up with those who were utterly appalled, including myself, leaving. When you go out for a meal you go out to have a good time and meet up with friends. You shouldn’t have to be put in a dilemma as to leave and cancel your booking especially when you have all got together to meet up and are obviously hungry. I am still really unhappy about the managers appalling attitude to his customers. Fortunately there are other restaurants in George Street and Edinburgh. DO NOT GO.
