Thank you Browns

We held our daughter's wedding reception at Brown's in Leeds. We had a fantastic evening. All the staff were really lovely and made everyone feel welcome. All the food was cooked to perfection and everyone enjoyed their meal. I would highly recommend Brown's in Leeds.

ALL FOOD IS BOUGHT IN FROZEN

ALL FOOD IS BOUGHT IN FROZEN I do not want Frozen food when I pay Browns prices. Even the Browns burger is bough in Frozen. Chips frozen just like a lot of places these days but I do not want frozen burgers fish and pies. On top of their expensive prices they try to charge a service charge when the bill comes

Lovely place

lovely place, great food and ambience! Our waiter Ash was great, very helpful, efficient and made us feel welcomed. I am only giving it 4 stars as it would have been nice to have staff at the bar when I arrived early. However, great place to eat and or drink with friends of family.

Browns, Birmingham

We visited Browns in Birmingham for a friends 50th last night. We had a great night, food was really good, the drinks flowed. Our night ran seamlessly thanks to our waitress Anja. She was so brilliant, very patient over the time we took over the menu, she was so efficient at anticipating our next drinks, topping up our wine and seamlessly seeing to all our needs. She was so smiley and good at her job, unobtrusively dealing with all our wants and requests. She really added to our evening. Will definitely be back and may even request Anja serves us!

Embarrassing

We were really Excited about eating at browns in butlers wharf. We arrived and were seated at a table. 10 mins in we were told to move as the table that was given to us was the wrong one. This was so embarrassing for us. We then proceeded to another table that was meant for us. However the table had not even been set up. So we were made to stand for a another ten minutes while it was being laid! Our table was booked for six pm and we had not even received a drink until 6.50pm. Our original waitress was rude and abrupt. She even challenged us when we asked for the table to be cleaned with - ‘is there going to be a problem here’ so rude. Not sure why we paid the service charge as this place lacks in customer service.

We have just had a short break away in…

We have just had a short break away in Birmingham for a concert, and while there, we decided to go and have a lovely lunch as a well earned treat, so my wife and I decided to visit Brown's Bristro in Birmingham, so we did, we were greeted with a warm smile from Evie who asked where we would like to be seated, once seated we were given a menu and a few minutes to order our drinks and any food we would like, we decided to order what ever we wanted to a not worry about the bill, it was so exciting, so we ordered our food and wine, of which Evie had taken our order again with a warm smile and very professional attitude, we were never rushed and from time to time were asked if everything was okay, we really enjoyed the lunch and we were very impressed and very happy with the excellent food and great quality of service especially from Evie, well done and we will definitely be going back if we find ourselves back in Birmingham, highly recommend the Steak and Scolops and also the salmon with rebarb. Well done to all and thanks for making our lunch a wonderful treat..

Anniversary meal a Browns Oxford

We went 28/5/22 the staff were lovely and the quality of food was good! My salmon was supposed to come with salute potatoes but came with new ones when I questioned this there was no explanation offered chips. I had eaten most of it already and left potatoes. When the Bill came they had given us somebody else’s bill £100 more. This was sorted. Overall nice food and drink.

Brunch at Browns in Reading…

Had brunch at Browns in Reading and although the the waiting staff were friendly,I think there must be a staff shortage as the service was very slow and our food was barely warm , even the coffee arrived lukewarm.

Bad service

Visited Browns in Sheffield tonight as we have many nights and normally good service tonight how ever different and will stop me visiting again for a while. 2 couples I went to the bar and friendly bar staff advised table service, so happily sat in 4 seater table in the window and young girl approached and advised sorry table reserved although nothing on the table to suggest so, so ok we will stand by the shelf behind sorry this has to be kept clear even through glasses from previous people who stood there in the area and empty, at this stage I gave up trying to give browns my money and walked out.

Good food and service

Having dined with my family the previous evening at a terrible Marco Pierre White restaurant our experience at Brown’s was like chalk and cheese. Service was excellent and the food well cooked and presented. Not the cheapest restaurant chain but fair value for money and I would happily book again.

Exceptional Service

My daughter, son and I had lunch at the Covent Garden restaurant, food was very tasty but what made the experience special was the exceptional service by the waiter who was attentive and friendly, so good to see someone who obviously takes such pride in his work.

Remove the service charge

Browns Bristol. Few weeks ago. Cocktails and food were expensive but nice, which is why my friend and I ordered plenty and enjoyed our dinner together. Service was a bit slow even though the restaurant was quite empty, but we are understanding people. So we enjoy our meal, and dessert and cocktails, and then the bill comes and theres a 10% service charge automatically added to it. We were a table of two, and didnt receive any special or outstanding service, we werent there for hours taking up the table, nor were we able to serve ourselves from the kitchen or bar…so why are being asked to pay to be served? If this is to supplement the low staff wages…why dont Browns adapt their menu prices so they can afford to pay their staff a decent wage? If this is to reward good service, it should be gifted from the diner freely. As it is, Browns clearly doesnt care about its customers or its serving staff…otherwise they wouldn’t continue to emotionally blackmail an extra 10% out of their paying customers: where not paying up involves having to essentially raise a complaint to the server who really hasnt done anything wrong, and look like a miser to your dinner party and anyone sitting nearby. I spent years as a server. This is not a system designed to reward the server. At best it gets shared out and the server gets taxed for it. I doubt it when it goes through the till. I nearly always leave a good tip. I just resent it being cheated out of me.

For £16.50 the fish pie is nice but SO small

Browns London. For £16.50 the fish pie is nice, but the smallest I’ve ever seen. Served with a table spoon of peas. Ridiculous. Was still hungry so then had a starter. A very small single piece of very tough, possibly stale sough-dour with very few mushrooms on it.

Browns Birmingham. Excellent food and service

Browns Birmingham. Christmas dinner for the family. We found the venue to be beautiful. Great attention to detail. The staff were hard working and attentive. When they found out our mother was 86 they moved the seating plan around to accommodate us being seated downstairs. We have eaten Christmas dinner at a restaurant three years in a row. This was our first experience of Christmas dinner at Browns. It was the best by far! The food was generous, well thought out and well cooked. Soyal, our waiter really enjoyed working for the company and you could tell. He was proud of the place and took pride in really caring for us. He was warm and personable. He payed attention to the table service and was very kind to our elderly mother. We really couldn’t fault anything. Hope to be back next year.

5* Disaster - avoid

Xmas dinner booked for 15:30 in Sheffield. At 16:45 we were seated. At 17:45 starters arrived. Poor waiting staff in tears, customers in uproar, manager no idea what was happening or how long to food. Appalling communication, no one had any control or concept of what was happening. Absolute disaster. Never again. 17:55 and no sign of mains never mind anything else. Update: having spoken to the General Manager accepted a full refund but never finished the food. After 4 hours we had had enough. Also important to add that the waiting staff were great. Some of them were in tears which is totally unacceptable and totally the responsibility of Browns. None of these [probably poorly paid] staff should be getting into such a state that they are in tears. And most customers were being very patient so it’s not that customers were screaming at staff by any means but they were just run ragged by a badly managed situation.
