Browns Ruislip, very disappointing

Very disappointed in my first visit to Browns. My chicken and leek pie was hardly a pie at all. The 2mm thick (if that) top crust was blackened and burnt, therefore inedible for me and no pastry base. It was served with a less than generous portion of mash and no vegetables at all. My mother who ordered the same as me actually had an inch long chicken bone in her filling. I also object to a compulsory service charge being added to the bill as this assumes the customer was happy which, in this case, she was not. They really need to up their game. Sadly I won’t be returning.

Burns Night Supper that wasn't.

Booked an advertised Burns Night Supper at Browns Oxford, arrived on time at 8pm to be told they had run out of BN Suppers! Everywhere else was booked so our evening was spoilt thanks to utter incompetence. I complained through their website and was informed that they had run out due to a large amount of walk-ins. Why these should take precedence over people who booked was not explained.

Don’t book for set menu meals seasonal events

Very different experience from an October visit to Bluewater branch. It was Boxing Day, we paid the deposit to pre book (that was the mistake we made) .Warm greeting, we were seated in a section that was full of families…it become quickly obvious we had indicated we would go with set menu option, although on the day you had both menus given to you. Service was not the usual standard as they seemed short staffed, the parsnip soup was puréed parsnip like baby food and tepid too. The main course was ok but not great and not piping hot again and under seasoned. Dessert we both went for the crumble, you could not taste apples or cherries (cherry is usually a strong taste ) and it tasted of nothing. I left mine. We went to pay the bill and we had £100 gift voucher to spend, it was a long checkout. The server struggled and their system was not intuitive, i went to the till to assist him. We left very underwhelmed. So our advice is avoid going bank holidays where there is a seasonal set menu period maybe like Easter & Christmas or book from menu where food isn’t prepared in volume.

Browns Restaurant, Ruislip

Booked 5 afternoon cream teas - when we got there we changed it to 3 with two main meals. This was not a problem at all for the restaurant. One of our party doesn't eat ham or egg but again the staff were very good and brought out extra cheeses sandwiches - the cream teas were prepared in advance but again this was not a problem. The cream teas were lovely, fresh and extremely filling. The two mains - classic burger and pork belly were delicious, again fresh and great size portions. Alex our waiter was very obliging and extremely helpful. The restaurant has been tastefully decorated. Will definitely be returning.

Bristol Browns - bit disappointed with meal and service charge automatically added to bill.

Lovely building and decor. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Service charge was added automatically but my own fault for not double checking. Had the fish pie which really wasn’t anything special and not anywhere as good as when I’ve ordered this before. My friend’s meal was excellent though.

Booked a table in November for 23rd December and explained it was for my 44th wedding anniversary. Upon arrival we were told the table wasn't set could we go to the bar for a drink. After waiting 20 minutes for the barstaff to even acknowledge us we were told our table was ready. Did I say the place was packed, we sat down and were asked what we were eating don't forget the table was booked in November complete with food order! Our waitress didn't have much knowledge of what wines they had unless they were over £50. The so called blade of beef my wife and I had ordered was more like stewing meat. My wife's starter of goatscheese was cheese less but she was offered a complimentary drink instead of cheese ( what! ) all in all a really rubbish evening. I have to add i have been using Browns restaurant for some years

Booked a table at Browns Manchester for festive afternoon tea. Upon arrival I was informed that my booking did not state afternoon tea and they weren’t serving it today. I dutifully showed the manager the booking made through fork! Whilst apologetic the manager informed me he could not provide afternoon tea and they regularly have problems with fork! My sister was already on her way in a taxi so unable to cancel. However Gotham were able to accommodate us and we had an amazing tea there. Staffs and food were fantastic nothing was too much trouble. Obviously I will never return to Browns and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else. Almost booked it for Christmas lunch, think we had a lucky escape.

went to browns in beaconsfield shocking experiance

went to browns in beaconsfield. worst experiance in years. poor staff. no proper management and the food was not edible. they should not be allowed by head office to be open as they clearly have major issues. i cannot advise anyone enough to not go there as it is so bad at the moment it needs closing down and senior management at head office to step in

My wife and II went here for my 60th…

My wife and I went here for my 60th birthday, the food was good but the area where we were seated, at a lower window area was a very cold location, we asked to be move but it was not much better, another couple also asked to be moved and one couple sent a meal back as it got cold soon after they were served it as the lower section was like a fridge. There was several items missing from the menu giving you a very limited choice. The time between courses was far to long which also added to a poor experience overall, this was our first time visit and it will be our last. The other areas in the restaurant were very warm but the lower section was like a fridge, the blow heaters were on but not enough to heat the cubic area were we and others were dinning, overall not a good first time experience and clearly did not live up to the hype their website portrays, if these points are addressed it may be good but we will not return as there are far to many other, better restaurants to try.

A very disappointing experience at…

A very disappointing experience at Brown’s Restaurant Bath. We booked a table for the late afternoon (of2027326) for a family of 4. We arrived and were seated early, which we grateful for as it was very cold and busy outside. Unfortunately, the area where we were sat was freezing cold. We asked the waitress why it was so cold but she did not know. Other diner’s also mentioned the cold, but nothing was said or done about it. I had to eat my meal whilst wearing my coat and scarf, my wife had her scarf pulled around her, it was not a pleasant experience, and we were all too cold to order desserts of another drink. At the end of the meal, we were asked if everything had been to our satisfaction, and we again mentioned how cold that particular area of the restaurant was, but the gentleman clearing the table disagreed with us, claiming it was the warmest time he had ever experienced in the restaurant! My wife and daughter have visited Brown’s in Bath, on several previous occasions, including just before Christmas, and had never experienced anything quite like this. It ruined the meal and would not be inclined to return or recommend it to anyone else!

Interesting food

Came here for lunch with some friends. All the dishes we tried were good with an interesting twist to the traditional Indian cuisine.

Our first time visiting Browns in…

Our first time visiting Browns in Glasgow for lunch and the experience was perfect. The food was excellent and the staff were brilliant. Our waiter was an older gentleman and obviously very experienced at his job. The food was fresh and cooked very well. There was a perfect pause between finishing the meal and the table getting cleared (something other restaurants should take note of). We will definitely visit again when in Glasgow. Well done the Glasgow team you were brilliant.

Lovely lunch at Browns Oxford

Visited Browns today and had a really good lunch from the set menu. Smoked salmon to start and then steak frites with peppercorn sauce to follow, both were spot on. To finish I had a really nice latte. I really liked the new decor and atmosphere. Also,we were very well looked after by our waiter called Joao. Will definitely go back.

wont return

Booked for a quick bite to eat before pre booked plans. We arrived and were walked right through all the empty tables and put round a cover in what was like a little corridor. We asked if we could sit on one of the other tables that was empty, the lady just said we will be busy soon. We were not planning on stopping long so just sat down, luckily this lady was not our server. Food was not the best. The cost wasn't overly expensive it was at the cheaper end of nice places but for what we got it was expensive. Food not fresh just frozen ping food. When paying the bill the card machine didn't give me the option to leave a tip, I felt that the young lad who served us should not be penalised for the attitude of the previous lady and the poor food. I was then told that the tip had already been added. This is very assumptive, what if I didnt want to leave a tip? When I got home I looked at the bill ( was hard to see in the dark corridor in Browns) The tip turned out to be less than what I was going to leave. So basically by sneakily adding the service charge you ended up doing your staff member out of money. As we were paying the bill we asked if it was going to be busy and our server said " not tonight but tomorrow will be " So dumped in corridor and lied to wont return
