Great experience!

I hadn't heard of this company before this weekend, so was a bit nervous to use them. Found out about them on Travelocity when my vehicle broke down. They had good hours & I got a full sized SUV for pretty much half the price of an economy car! When I had to extend my rental for another 4 days, I got it for another 50% off! (Note: go thru Travelocity if you have to extend, otherwise you would pay more.) Good staff, polite & cooperative. The SUV was a newer model, clean inside & out.

RENT the car at your own risks

rented a SUV from the Salt Lake City location in July 2019 for a week, car broke down 5 days later, called office customer support/ road side assistance numerous times without responses. Ending up renting another car from another car rental place to complete our trip. AVR refused to reimburse us for extra expense and even charged for their car problem. Their customer service phone line is just for show with voice mail only. No one there to assist customers when needed. If there is a neg rating this company deserved all of it. I would stay away from this company.

They bring out a vehicle that is not…

They bring out a vehicle that is not fit to drive , then try to get you get an upgrade for more money. I rented two minivans on line with unlimited millage and but I was told I have only 350 miles per day, now I'm stuck with this rental going out of town over 1600 miles and only have 1400 per rental , I have always rented van from AVR out of town and never had a problem, but here at Chicago midway they want to rip you off ...NEVER AGAIN Vicky Nelson reservation# AVR9032479

This Company is full of crap

This Company is full of crap. No one answers the telephone or chat. Their family members and employees must be giving them 5 stars, there is no way they deserve 1 star. we booked a 15 passenger van for $278 - left the place with a $736 bill it stated unlimited mileage but at the location, they said 300 miles a day they would not rent to us unless we paid for insurance the rear view mirror is cracked and the van was not cleaned

Disappointed...

Unfortunately, I had quite a negative experience with AVR. The vehicle I rented died while inside the Rocky Mountain National Park!! Luckily, one phone in my group worked and we were able to call the two numbers listed on the rental paperwork. However, there was NO answer at either number. We attempted to track down jumper cables as other hikers drove into the trail head but were unsuccessful and decided to call AVR again...this time we left a message. THREE hours later we got a call back providing an additional number to call for road side assistance, by this time we had already made contact with some good samaritans in the park who were nice enough to help us. When I was able to drop the vehicle off that evening, I was told I would hear from the manager the next morning by 11:30 to discuss the issue, and to give them an opportunity to take the car to the mechanic and try to identify the root of the problem. I never received that call. I have since called and left a voicemail, and days later still haven't received a call back to address my concerns. I had this vehicle for just over 30 hours and paid over $400. Now it is nearly a week later and I haven't received the communication I was told I would receive from management the next day, nor have I received a response to the voicemail I left when I never heard from them. To say I am disappointed in my experience with AVR would be an understatement.

Piece of CRAP place to rent a car

Piece of CRAP!!! place to rent a car I was charged 491.00 for a rental then 279.00 for mileage when it said unlimited mileage and then 250.00 on a deposit and 99.00 on insurance. A grand total of over 1,000.00 to rent a van. You people are the worst. I was going to take my 86yr. Old mom on her last trip, but now we have no extra money to enjoy anything.

Rented a van from the LAX location, July 4th weekend. I must share the customer service, patience and dedication to providing me with a safe and spacious van, was outstanding by DeAndre and Liz, thank you for making my visit pleasant.

The worse service!! Check everything before you go in make sure the rental you ask for is in!! Because I didn't get what I wanted.i got what they wanted me to have🤔.I didn't like it.

WORST COMPANY I HAVE DEALT WITH!!!

WORST COMPANY I HAVE DEALT WITH!!!! I have rented dozens of cars/Van's over the years and have never been treated so poorly, the manager is a rude arrogant jerk. I paid for the rental in advance and when I got there was told my reservation was canceled. Then after he realized that my pickup time was later then he thought, he then refused to use my credit card for a deposit, when I offered my debit card he refused that. He demanded me having a pge bill in my name and a water bill in my name. When I tried to explain to him that I only had 1 bill because I'm on a well, he refused to rent me a car, I offered him my dish bill, my phone bill, my car insurance and my mortgage bill. He REFUSED THE ALL. WORST COMPAY EVER!!!!

This company was THE WORST I've ever…

This company was THE WORST I've ever dealt with, it's a SCAM. We just returned from Los Angeles May 28 and rented from AVR through Expedia. TERRIBLE! Our experience was exactly like review#54. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM- IT WILL COST MORE THAN OTHER COMPANIES! My husband and I had our two kids and 80-year old grandpa and felt like we had no choice but to rent, the office is in the middle of no-where, otherwise we would have cancelled on the spot. We arrived at 9:00pm, took the two shuttles, then waited an hour (with only one family in front of us) in the office that's in an industrial area and it was past 10:30pm by the time we received the van. They gouged us the $55 USD per day for insurance as we're from Canada and considered international travelers, which have to have their additional insurance. They also took a $200 USD deposit, which we still have not seen refunded. It's an absolute scam operation. I contacted Expedia and told them I'm appalled they allow disreputable vendors like that on their website, they were no help. I can't even review AVR on Expedia. I will not rent cars from Expedia again either. It's my advice, if you're going to L.A., use Uber. There's lots, it's cheaper than paying parking and way more reliable. Not to mention you know what you're paying up front!

Ripped off!!!!!

We signed the paper that said we would fill up the van with gasoline. When we got to the van we noticed it was empty, the employee told us not to worry about it just return it empty. We rented the van in San Francisco returned it in Portland and was charged $112 to refill it. When I called to complain no one really cared. Very unsatisfied

Bad customer service

try new company to on expedia late at night to rent van was not ready no unlimited miles and expedia says unlimited after 15 minutes they told me go out to check it but still needed extra time to fill gas up they gave me clipboard to write scratches and van was very bad shape and told a worker it wasn't my job to check it and told him I couldn't close side door and he accused me I damaged it and he had cameras to check I got so upset I walk away and had stay extra night so I could rent on another rent company because was so lateMore

I was nervous about renting a van from…

I was nervous about renting a van from here in Las Vegas because the reviews were mixed but our experience was great and I would gladly use them again. As stated the rental station is across the street from the Las Vegas rental hub. It is about a 5-10 minute walk but they do offer pick up. We left our luggage with the rest of our group instead of dragging it down the street which made it easier. The staff was very friendly. We had to wait for about 15 minutes to get the van but it was almost new and very clean. They gave us water and apologized often for the wait. You can't beat the price.

Just rent through someone else. This company sucks!

There was never any mention of an extra $12 a day for a spouse to be able to drive until after i confirmed the registration, flew half way across the country with a newborn and a toddler and got to the van rental building (thats off site and it was raining but they told me "we could pick you up but its a short walk". It was raining...) Then i get to the rental desk and that's when they decide to tell me my rental will be another $12 a day. I had called their corporate offices the day before and specifically asked if there was an extra charge for a spouse and I was told there wouldn't be any extra charges for a spouse as a second driver. At this point i was stuck paying the extra $90 because they would charge me for one day rental anyway because I had confirmed the rental reservation the day before. So going with another rental company would have ended up costing me the same plus another walk through the rain with a toddler, and newborn, and luggage. They told me it was state law in nevada but told my wife it was company policy. I called the corporate office and they said that I had talked to somebody new the previous day and there was no way to wave the $12 a day charge but they'd refund me $20 for my hassle (after i asked a few times why a new employee giving wrong information should be my problem) I never got the $20 discount/refund either, just the runaround until I decided it wasn't worth $20 to stay in hold for a 3rd or 4th time. I will say that the van itself was clean.

Challenges with Rental - Off site

The vehicle was fitting according to the reservation, yet my disappointment was due to the lack of transparency in the vehicle appropriation process. Nowhere in the process was I advised that the business and the vehicle was off-site from the airport. This caused a great deal of aggravation for my family as one of us is in a wheelchair. The subsequent van transfer and return transfer to a room in a hotel many miles from the airport was stressful. This was compounded further by the fact that my return flight was at 11 PM yet the rental company advised that they would only provide a shuttle to the airport up until 7 PM. This caused us to cut our last day short to facilitate the rental vehicle return. I just wish all of this was noted at the time of the reservation so I could have made a more informed decision on the purchase.

AVR is my new go to rental company for…

AVR is my new go to rental company for best value and best service! They are conveniently located not far from the John Wayne airport and received several phone calls confirming my pickup prior to my arrival. I loved the personal service and the vehicle had no issues.

DISHONEST

This was our 2nd time renting from AVR. Despite the numerous bad reviews online we had a positive experience the first time and decided to rent from them again. What a mistake. Upon returning the van I was told I was all set and would be charged the rate I was quoted with no additional fees. I was given a receipt with the total and verbally told there were no additional charges. The next day I was charged a $200 cleaning fee for “excessive pet hair.” WE NEVER HAD AN ANIMAL IN THE VAN. I called and spoke to Maria, the station manager, who repeatedly restated their cleaning policy. I asked to speak to her supervisor and was told Steve, the General Manager, would call me back. He did not call so I called and asked to speak to him. I was told he was gone for the day & was reconnected to Maria. She told me there were pictures of the animal hair and she would email them to me. Maria reassured me she would make sure my concerns were taken care of before she left for the day. I have not received any communication from Maria or Steve since my last phone call. It seems AVR keeps their rental rates low then charges fees upon return to make a profit. What a dishonest business practice. I would recommend you rent from another company even if their rates are higher.
