They say that you never truly know an insurance company until you try to claim with them... Due to the poorly staffed immigration department at Miami Airport, I was recently delayed coming through immigration on my way to LA. Because of this, I missed my connecting flight and was stranded in Miami from about 9.30pm until the next flight at 7am the next morning. As a solo traveller, I'm not comfortable spending the night alone in the airport so had no other choice but to take a room at the airport hotel - despite the fact that I had already paid for my accommodation in LA for that night. As I was delayed and out of pocket through no fault of my own, I thought that this would be something that would be covered by insurance. How wrong I was!!! This is the first time I have ever made an insurance claim in 18 years of travelling and this is also the first time I feel that I have been wasting my money purchasing a product that does not actually provide adequate cover where it should, using fine print to weasel out of a valid claim. I gave a couple of stars as I did receive a reply to my email within 48 hours - but I would certainly not recommend this company to anyone.
