Went to Marco at Milton Keynes, what can I say. Positive staff attentive polite Cons Really cold Food bland over cooked dry chicken, the burger was dry including the bun, onion rings no better. Tiramisu was poor My wife liked the brownie Huge let down considering the name.
I was bought an afternoon tea last year for my 60th birthday, but then was informed that could not have afternoon tea and that had to exchange it for 2 course lunch at an extra cost. Myself and my daughter went to Birmingham restaurant to see there were people giving afternoon tea. The service was quick but they never engaged in any conversation and did not ask if we needed or wanted anything. I had the steak, it was bland and tough and the fries were tasteless, not impressed. Couldn't wait to leave. Would never return, so many other places that are much better. Very disappointed.
Went for three course meal at London MPW steakhouse Service was impeccable by our own waiter (Darren). Drinks were excellent and food just as expected, beautiful. We would certainly visit again without hesitation. Many thanks to you and your team for an excellent experience.
Dining with three others in Nottingham all had sirloin steak, all were dreadful, tough, grissle, under done - returned one suffered the other three, but left most. Offered a discount, but as a steakhouse you expect at least a decent steak between us. To be balanced the staff and service were excellent but sadly let down by the quality of the materials.
We Ate at the Birmingham restaurant for a friends 65th birthday, I don’t even know where to start… upon arrival we ordered drinks and tried to pay with a £20 note but was told there was no change and it was card only, ok a bit annoying but we paid by card and went to our table with our friends. Dinner was supposed to be served at 7pm but by 7.30 we were having to chase it up as it hadn’t arrived yet! When it finally came the soup was served with no bread and we were told it was not included! But they did bring some dry toasted bread out eventually (no butter was provided!) On to the mains, they brought the mains out but no vegetables, 10 mins later the veg finally arrived when most people had already finished their meal! The meal itself was nice but was only luke warm. The children were also made to wait an awful long time for their meals. One persons meal was not brought out with ours and when her meal finally arrived about 15 mins after ours everyone else had finished theirs! Very unprofessional… Now the pudding… the Apple and almond crumble was mainly crumble and very dry But it was nice if u managed to get any apple!! My brother had ordered a cheese cake which looked and tasted lovely but then he gagged and pulled a long hair out of his mouth!!! I told the person serving us and his responce was ‘oh sorry’. And he carried on doing what he was doing! Overall I was so dissatisfied with the service and the food, I was really looking forward to the meal at Marcos and felt so sorry for my friend who’s birthday it was. I did give an extra star due to the fact my mother is diabetic, upon arrival I told them this and they did bring her starter out within a few minutes, followed by her main when we had our starter. But she had no veg and we had to ask for some peas.
I recently took my parents and sister to afternoon tea, the teapot spout was broken, the table cloth had a hole in it, some seats and sofas were very visibly ripped and there was no fine china, the plates and cups were the same as used within the NHS!! Thick off white plates, mugs and teapots. My sister vouched for this as she is a nurse. Very disappointing.
Disgusting treatment and customer service. Booked this restaurant in Birmingham for my very special big birthday. We travelled from Kent and were so excited. Balloons and a cake delivered to the restaurant. Unfortunately we had a delay on the way partly due to traffic and we got a little lost in the city centre however, we knew we were going to be a bit late and tried for over an hour to contact them to let them know but no answer. Upon arrival, we gave details to waiting staff and were left standing for more than 10 mins. The Manager appeared, said we were late ! We explained again and that we had tried over and over to contact them. The reply was they were too busy to answer the phone and we had lost our slot. Despite it being obvious with the cake etc, they did not bother to try to contact us. We accepted we could not have the full meal as planned and said we would just sit at our table, have a drink and cut the cake. It took another debate before we were told our table had been given away. If this is the way Marco Pierre White runs his restaurants, it is appalling and I will NEVER book again. Just felt so sad for my daughter who had organised it, walking around Birmingham City Centre with balloons and a cake crying. That was the most upsetting. So thanks MPW, this is a birthday I will remember for all the wrong reasons.
We ere given a Xmas gift to the value of £100. For us what we got struggled to get to £20 for value. Starter - basically fancy cheese on toast with some strong tasting leaf. 2 out of 10. Cheese had no taste and was dominated by the bread. Main - steak - yep that was good. I didn't like the dry chips but my wife did. Paid extra for the leaf mixture. About £29 each in all each. Say 7 out of 10 but value 3! I had a pud - bread and butter pudding with cream. Lidl do a better one. This was a cuboid lump with no raisins. Bland. 2 out of 10 for taste, 1 for value. It is rare that we go out and find such a poor value establishment with food way way below expectation. Oh the service was good - polite and professional. So if you want to go somewhere with a big name and don't care about anything else you know where to book. For interest this is the worst review we have given any hotel or restaurant.
Totally awful! Pre booked a gluten free afternoon tea! Food was late as no gluten free options ready! 2 hours after eating I was violently ill sickness and diarrhoea. Missed the show I'd pre booked. Complained to the restaurant, they couldn't give a stuff!
Afternoon tea at Birmingham is nothing special. Tea is served in chunky coffee mugs as an afterthought. Ordinary sandwiches and bland cakes.
Staying at the Oxford Jury’s Inn I decided to dine with my family at the in-house Marco Pierre White restaurant- what an expensive mistake! Several examples. Plates were universally cold spoiling the food. My son asked for his to be warmed up and it was clearly simply put under the salamander because it came back on a red hot plate ruined. My granddaughter requested mushrooms on the side but they were all over and, being allergic, she was subsequently ill. I, on the other hand, requested mushrooms with my steak and was told they were not available! I could go on but I will simply say avoid this chain !
I would never ever buy a voucher from this company again, the company is totally unprofessional with no ethics. purely surviving on the MPW name but with the way they treat potential customers, that won't last long!
Recently had the misfortune of taking my mum there for Mothers day on the 27th March 2022.. This restaurant is without doubt the most poorly organised and mismanaged restaurant in the Midlands. Every single table within earshot of us was either complaining about the service, the delays for food or the blatant overbooking tactics that had been implemented that night..not to mention the 'Mothers Day Menu' that was withdrawn without notice to all customers after 6pm..despite this being displayed front and centre on their website..only to be replaced with an overpriced and underwhelming bargain basement quality alternative..with unbelievable delays for service of this said menu thrown in for good measure...if anyone Is looking for a terrible night, full of frustration, disappointment and a night you will never forget for all the wrong reasons, this is the place for you
I purchased 4 gift vouchers for the resturant Birmingham. 3 I gave as gifts and have been redeemed. The final one was my treat for me and a friend. Booked 31st March 4pm as voucher expired then. Due to contracting covid 28th March I am unable to go I have requested and extension or reissue of the voucher with MPW and rhe issuing voucher company sk chase all have refused to honour. Should I have gone anyway with COVID-19 or just been responsible and stayed away.
If I could give zero stars that would be too high. Visited Cardiff MPW on 28.3.22. Food was very sub standard - steak awful, accompaniments very poor, did not stay for dessert as got fed up of waiting for mains to be taken away and based on quality of mains another course was not appealing - approx 1 hour wait for dirty plates to be cleared away, they were still there when we left the table, service shockingly poor and toilets truly filthy. I feel extremely sad for the family member who spent £50 of her hard earned money on a voucher for this ‘restaurant’. In my 50 plus years on this earth never experienced such a poor meal or shockingly poor service for the price. Evident from speaking with other guests in the restaurant that we were not alone in our disappointment/experience. Personally I will never step foot in a MPW restaurant again. I would far rather support a local independent restaurant which respects the money which their guests are paying and provides the level of service and quality of food commensurate to the same. Hopefully MPW will improve on the service/quality and if not then I hope they meet the fate that they deserve on tonight’s performance. Customers deserve better.
Where to start - Summary: All 4 of us were left fuming at the catalogue of disasters from start to finish - booked 7.30 - had to wait until 8.15 to be seated - we have trains to catch back so not a good start - rip off bar prices , shambolic service , Very average food and well over priced - ZERO service , had to fight to get attention , Bill came with lots of deserts on it - that we did not have - and now did not have time to eat - missed our train home - and for the kicker - My Birthday and the voucher i had been given was not accepted after 6pm !!!! I could go on but i am sure you get the idea - and it cost me £300 for the dis - pleasure and the embarrassment it caused dragging my friends there. NEVER AGAIN . I will also speak to my credit card company and be leaving more reviews about this terrible night - Not to mention telling anyone i can to avoid this crappy rip off experience.
Visited the Cardiff restaurant this evening, such a bad experience I would run out of characters to list them all. How Mr Pierre can put his name to to this restaurant is beyond me. Disappointing evening, as this was meant to be a celebratory meal.
Staff were setting up breakfast all around me at eight o'clock in the evening. I'm spending upwards of £100 on a meal and it's like sitting in train station. I didn't spend that much as I left before desert. Complained to restaurant but the response was unsatisfactory, Marco Pierre website didn't even respond to my thoughts.
Been here before & promised I wouldn't go back, previously terrible service. Got vouchers for Christmas so we booked a table. Greeted at the front desk, really polite & friendly. Was offered a choice of window seats with a great view. Once seated the waitress was over within minutes; once again really polite, friendly & informative. Waitress talked us through various options on the wine list & the food. We had Cocktails, Wine & 3 courses ...All the Food & Drinks were lovely, the Steaks were cooked to our liking & I had French Onion soup which was gorgeous. The only thing that was better than the Food was the exceptional service throughout... Happy Customer & glad we gave it another chance
