50% off mains scam …

I booked a table after receiving a 50% off mains email. It’s valid till 6, my table was 6. They was running behind and moved my booking till 6:15. And wouldn’t honour the 50% off. I had to prove my conformation booking as well that it was 6pm. 1 manager said it’s fine, the other said it’s not. I’ve not been there in a few years and I won’t be rushing back. I also told them I was leaving negative reviews where I could and they wasn’t bothered

We having been going to this restaurant…

We having been going to this restaurant for the past 4 years with virgin experience vouchers as we have always in the past had fantastic service and food was amazing (bishopsgate) last Saturday after a terrible year full of ill health and the death of my brother and mother in law we treated ourselves to a voucher for our favourite place to start the new year better. We were placed on a table that was side by side so I asked to be moved to one that was face to face they put us by the till where the servers congregated and the milling around and chit chat was not the ambience I had in mind so we asked to be moved again and was put on a side by side table once again and told that was best they could do. Then the waitress proceeded to ignore us and not even take a drinks order we had to beckon her over we felt like we was ear marked as troublemakers and everyone was ignoring us so the service was shoddy nothing like we’d come to love on our previous visits to the point it has spoiled the whole experience for us and will not be returning The food was fine nothing exceptional to comment on but the menu was the same one I had seen the past 4 years. The whole place, experience was spoiled for us and unfortunately I’m heart broken as I won’t be returning again. We always spend in region of 1-200 extra from our voucher as we want the best experience so we didn’t stick to the voucher we paid extra for both courses to upgrade

Marco at Indigo Hotel, Durham.

Wonderful. Our party of seven went to the MPW at the Indigo Hotel in Durham, for Christmas Lunch. This is an old, quite beautifully restored hotel, with a spectacular restaurant. Stained glass windows, different levels, exceptional finish. We had the Christmas lunch and it was faultless. Marvelous food, top service, amazing value. If you live near Durham and haven't tried this place , give it a go. If you don't, well it's a beautiful hotel, so make the trip! I never give anything 10/10, so it's 9.9/10!

Went to Marco pierre New York Italian…

Went to Marco pierre New York Italian in London Bridge as a ‘buy a gift’ and we were both so disappointed - the setting was cold like canteen and the food was so tasteless. We ordered the chicken wings to start they came and were spicy - no mention on the menu. The staff Altho politel were like headless chickens The main was a spaghetti bolognaise-oh my the worse hardly any meat and worse I’ve ever tasted no flavour so bland. Ready meals I’ve tasted were better. The deserts cheesecake and tiramisu - the tiramisu was so so but the cheese cake was tasteless awful- Marco pierre your reputation is not going to do you justice and I would be ashamed to have such poor quality food. This was a gift and we were so disappointed

Better service at Wimpy

Provided my friends with a gift for the restaurant in Birmingham. They booked last week 6th December ..and Wimpy get more for service .. Dirty plates - argumentative staff. Unorganised. Items ordered and not served. The only person who seemed to know what to do was the manager who gave refunds in items that weren’t provided. Embarrassing .. so much for a top class restaurant

Not what I expected

When we arrived at the restaurant, although we had a booking, we weren't assigned a table but had the choice. We chose a table near the window. On arrival, the restaurant wasn't overly busy. A waitress promptly came and took what I thought was our drinks order, but they failed to ask my husband what he'd like and he was sat a good while without a drink. Another waitress came to take our food order. Our starter came out, which was lovely. I was looking forward to the rest of the meal, which didn't disappoint at first. We were served quickly at first. That is until a large party came in. At this point it was almost as if we were forgotten about. I constantly needed to get a waiter/waitresses attention as they were going past to ask about our food. One waitress came to our table, and was surprised and apologetic that we hadn't had our main course. This arrived and was nice. Neither of us were going to have a desert, but because it was a special occasion we decided we would. We both had the apple crumble with ice cream. As my husband was half way through his desert, he discovered a foreign body in it! I called over a waitress. She was apologetic again, and went away. She, not a manager returned to say it was normal and that it sometimes happens with said desert! Not only was the poor waitress left to deal with this, when in my eyes it should have been someone with seniority that dealt with the situation, I am bitterly disappointed by our experience. What was meant to be a nice evening, turned into something not very nice!

Pretty awful and overpriced.

Pretty awful and overpriced. The New York restaurant in Milton Keynes is attached to the Holiday Inn. Waitresses didn’t have a clue. We somehow had 2 assigned to our table and they repeatedly both tried taking our orders throughout. It became a joke as at one point we had eaten our dessert only to be told by another it was on the way. Food was poor quality and expensive. Nothing special about the food, experience or surroundings. Bland, bland, bland. Never to go back I’m afraid.

Travelled over two hours to Birmingham…

Travelled over two hours to Birmingham restaurant and booked overnight stay nearby with a voucher given as a gift. No mention of Monday to Friday at 5pm on voucher. Advised using voucher when booked and no restrictions advised. Turned up and staff were very rude when rejecting the voucher. Decided to still have meal and pay but felt real bad atmosphere towards us from staff. Food was good but couldn’t wait to get out of there with how was treated. Horrible experience overall.

Visited the MPW in Birmingham with high…

Visited the MPW in Birmingham with high expectations and was very disappointed. The staff were very nice but lacked any training on how to serve and clear the table. The Sunday roast I had is probably the worst I’ve had, the beef being over cooked and chewy yet very thin. The pork and chicken both over cooked. My wife’s vegetarian consisted of JUST the vegetables I had with my meal, yet was the same price!! On clearing the table, one of the staff transferred what I had left from one plate to another whilst on the table and splashing gravy over me. We won’t be visiting again.

Absolutely execrable

Absolutely execrable. Given a voucher by a friend and used it for the set menu deal - £49.99 for 2, with a bottle of prosecco. First problem - very little for me as I choose not to eat meat, and do not eat dairy due to sinus issues. Had to settle for a poor version of panzanella (halved ice cold cherry tomatoes, scant chopped red onion, meagre crumbs of bread and a vaguely sweetish dressing of sorts). The Spouse had indifferent nachos. The only main I could opt for was spaghetti pomodoro. Simply vile. The so called sauce tasted like cheap, supermarket own brand tomato soup, with (more !) halved cherry tomatoes - 2 to be precise. Abominable, with a few shreds of fresh basil. The Mrs. paid a £10.50 supplement for a paltry steak, plus a swingeing £3.50 for a watery peppercorn sauce. Parsimonious little lukewarm portions of brownie, and about a teaspon of low quality vanilla ice cream. No flexibility re the vino - we asked if we could swap the prosecco for a (cheaper) still rose - no. At the meal's end I said to the wait staff that I noted nobody had asked how our food was. I enquired if that was because they knew how simply dreadful it was. I then elaborated on just how awful the experience had been. Save your money, go somewhere better.

Excellent service and Gorgeous food

Excellent service. Staff are lovely and friendly, especially Zaza. I’m not sure if he’s the supervisor or higher than that. We had a lovely evening and we really enjoyed the gorgeous food, served hot not cold. It was my daughter’s birthday. She said she’s been at Marco Pierre White Steakhouse, Bar & Grill Birmingham before and wanted to go there again and so I booked a table by the window. And since the restaurant is on the 24th floor, you can view the city, and it’s beautiful at night. We will definitely go back again for my son’s and grandson’s birthday. I will recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Disappointing

Experienced dinning at the cube Birmingham. Given it a three star review mainly for the service we received. We ordered a Sunday roast which came out Luke warm. The veg was over cooked and the roast potato's seamed to have been boiled deep fried and left under the heater to long. The meat and Yorkshire pud was the nicest part of the meal. Surely with your name could do better.

He bangs on on TV programmes about how…

He bangs on on TV programmes about how brilliant he is and under delivers. With a recent Shard/Lunch deal, a main course with just a steak is not a meal. £15 for a few beans and mash, and boring out of the fridge starters and pudding in jars, is not fine dining. Blood all over the plate, not even a tender steak Staff were very nice. Have another experience there, going to cancel it.

ALLERGY ISSUES - NOT KNOWN OR CLEAR

We were bought a gift voucher for experiences and chose to visit the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse, Bar & Grill. As my daughter was coming with us and is coeliac, needing a gluten free diet we emailed ahead to check on what she would be able to have. We were sent and response with a copy of the children's menu highlighting what food she could have. This indicated chicken, steak, salad, and mash but we were also advised to inform staff on our arrival. We thought this was a good start and my daughter was looking forward to it... On our arrival we handed the voucher in and told the staff member who greeted us of my daughter's allergy - we weren't asked this but in most restaurants now you are asked if there are allergies - we just got "OK". Sat at our table and the waitress came over - we told her of the allergy need and wanted to check on the email. They advised they would get the food matrix to guide us further. In this menu there was no information on the children's menu, and we pointed this out - they advised they would get a manager. No manager came over, but the staff member returned advising of another list of foods that my daughter could have listing garlic breads, pasta dishes etc. We asked if these were the gluten free as it was different guidance to the email - the response "think so". The risk of "think so" was not one we could take so stuck to the steak and mash. When asked how she wanted the steak the staff asked us rather than my daughter who asked for medium rare - to be told "no children's is pink or well done". We had the meal which to be honest was all right not a great deal of fuss over it! With drinks we asked for no paper straws as they can at times contain wheat to bind them - we had two served with straw's, but staff did change them. On to puddings they gave us a list of what my daughter could have - she ordered the ice cream for staff to then come back and say it's only vanilla ice cream she could have! The bill needed to be corrected three times and then we left... I've mailed twice to the restaurant and had one reply stating they will forward my reply to a manager no reply so emailed back with more concerns and FSA guidance - still no reply. We can go to local pubs who offer more understanding with gluten free and even my local chinese takeaway can do it! A worrying concern that a place like this cannot clearly show or understand allergies!! Oh and be aware if you want to sit by a window there's and extra charge!!

Don't Waste Your Time or Money

We purchased a voucher from Buy A Gift to be used at Marco Pierre White in Birmingham. I called 11 times to make the booking, but no one answered the phone so went online and made the booking, in the comments box, I put in our dietary requirements and also put in that I had a voucher. As I hadn't heard anything from the restaurant I took it that the booking was fine. When we got there we were told that we could not use the voucher until after 6 pm and its in the T&C's, I explained that I called the day before - 11 times actually and was asked to prove that, which I did, also it clearly states on the booking that we had a voucher, so why didn't someone call me, they didn't seem to have an answer for that but kept saying that they couldn't take the voucher until after 6, when I asked to speak to the ladies superior, she came out saying the same thing, no level of customer service, just a case of "computer says no", this then went on for about 40 mins after which we were given a table. The whole afternoon was spoilt not just by the situation but more so by how they actually dealt with it, which was just disgraceful. Whilst we were having this merry dance with them, I also witnessed a member of staff in tears because of how a member of the management team spoke to them, again totally disgraceful, no one should reduce anyone to tears in their place of work. I do welcome any comments from Marco Pierre White Restaurant's so please do feel free to contact me. An establishment that we will not be sitting foot in again.

Inept and incompetent staff presenting appalling food at gourmet prices

Advised need for gluten free menu in advance. Shock horror reaction from ‘restaurant’ receptionist who was unable to identify GF foods on menu Starters really good; GF salmon (only after arrogant approval from manager???) was mediocre, sirloin steak not available (in steak restaurant?) and substituted ribeye inedible - the supplied steak knife failed to cut the gristle and connective tissue attached to this £29.00 piece of protein which was cooked almost blue even though the recommended medium rare was specified. The ultimate insult was delivered by a member of hotel management 10 minutes after serving coffee by presenting a chocolate brownie to a known gluten intolerant guest Unbelievably inept, incompetent and way outside acceptable service standards Does the Michelin starred (although returned) patron know just how disrespectfully his name is being used? This is a place to avoid even if you have to book in this moderate hotel
