REFUSED REFUND OF DEPOSIT

I paid a deposit for Christmas day meal in Birmingham and due to Covid it was obviously cancelled. You would think that the deposit would have been refunded at the time they cancelled the meal but I was told that there were no office staff to process the refund and I would need to wait until they opened up again to get the refund. Now, 5 months later I have been told I cannot have a refund as a new company is operating the venue! Terrible customer service, I will never book with them again......

Table booked for 7:15 on a Thursday…

Table booked for 7:15 on a Thursday during “Eat out to Help out” Poor food, poor service will not go back!! Arrived on time to be told our table was not ready due to people still being on it. We chose the 3 course set menu, and still took over 2 hours for the service. Food was average at best, Beetroot and hens egg salad was half an egg and half a thinly slice beetroot and the tempured whitebait was very dry and lacked any batter. steak was no better than a pub cooked steak, cheese and crackers was one air dried slice of cheddar and 4 jacobs crackers not the jacks farm biscuits listed, when mentioned to the hostess she was aware of the issues sourcing the advertised biscuits but no mention of it when ordering. The chocolate brownie was also not available on the set menu which left a very poor choice on the menu. There was over 30 minutes wait for our drinks which considering the capacity limits of covid and the over staffing was really poor as well. Not what i would expect from Marco Pierre White, for our first date night posy covid lockdown, disappointed is an understatement. ***update*** We were contacted following a facebook review and were offered a “complimentary” meal to make up for the poor service received 2 weeks after the review. I tried to book this meal to be told they had no record of the complaint and refused to book the “complimentary meal”.

Very poor @bridgwater

Very poor @bridgwater. Came for anniversary meal, overpriced for poor quality steak. Very poor customer service with a manager disciplining her staff member next to our table. Would never return. Shocking. Tried to contact customer service and sent email after email, I felt embarrassed for the poor staff member who was rushed off her feet and being spoken to very rudely by the ‘boss’ it was useless. No one ever responds. I sent five emails and heard nothing. Waste of money. Was told I would receive a refund as the steak was chewy and rubber like, and the managers response to the meat being so poor was ‘well if you like it well don’t, expect it like that’. I have been served beautiful well done steak in other restaurant. Needless to say no refund ever materialised. Rubbish waste of money and not what you’d expect.

Poor quality for the price

Ate at MPW Durham. Chicken and leek pie contained about five small chunks of chicken and couldn't find any leek. My husband had game pie which was a hard dry ball of game pate wrapped in pastry. Admittedly only £22 for 2 courses but we would have happily paid more for something that did not appear pre prepared and just warmed up. Can't believe MPW is proud of what was served

Visited Marco Pierre White Steakhouse…

Visited Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill - Bridgwater which was a Christmas Voucher treat, very disappointed. Travelled 1.5 hours thinking we were in for a treat, a special meal, how wrong was I. Honestly I would have preferred going to McDonalds. I thought all food would be freshly cooked, I saw one of the young chefs emptying frozen chips into a fryer, I did not think much of the triple cooked chips I'm afraid. However, the onion soup was very tasty but that was it. Not worth it at all.

Birmingham

Birmingham, amazing beautiful views! Lovely food, small portions but very filling. Steak was delicious. Cocktails were a bit strong but the wine was lovely and it was an amazing evening all in all. Friendly staff.

Very disappointing

Went to the new restaurant in Swansea. Very overpriced and over-rated. Steaks were just average. Very smokey, caused my eyes to burn. Best thing about the place was our waiter. I'd give him 5*. But overall a very disappointing experience

Marco Restaurant Kegworth

As my wife and I had not dined out for some considerable time because of the present climate we decided to take advantage of 'Eat out and help out' so we booked a table at Marco's Kegworth restaurant, we are no strangers to Marco's but this was the first time at Kegworth, we arrived slightly early for our booking and were shown to our table, I can now only say what we experienced, a pint of lager and a glass of wine (£13) olives and almonds absolute rubbish (nearly £8) Calamari, bland, salt mill on the table empty, two steaks arrived with vine tomatoes on the top, the steaks were cooked identically, when one was supposed to be medium and one medium rare, a portion of chips (£3.95) and a rocket and parmesan salad (£3.95) as side dishes, well if there was 50 pence worth of food in the two dishes it would be an exaggeration, ordered two sweets which came promptly, but again nothing to write home about. All in all the place looked and felt tired, the staff were pretty good however one waiter was wearing a face mask but only covering his mouth and thought what was the point of that, we then proceeded to ask for the bill which was £74.97 with £20 deducted, all in all I've spent £55 better, not the Marco's we're used to and will not bother with the Kegworth branch again, probably time for the man himself to visit as I'm sure he would have some serious comments to make, after all it's his name above the door. Finally I don't think I'm being too critical but really not worth bothering with even with £20 off the bill.

I booked a reservation for 21 guests…

I booked a reservation for 21 guests for mother's day at the Birmingham branch. All my guests paid a deposit of £10 each. Due to the Corona virus and the government health warning to close all bars and restaurants our meal had to be cancelled. I contacted Marco Pierre for a refund of my deposit and I was refused by manger David Holden. I'm absolutely disgusted. Is this even legal to hold a customer's deposit if the Government has issued a health warning for closure?

Refused to honour Valentines offer that they sent me! Booked a hotel at the Doubletree Chester to have dinner, went to the restaurant at the pre-booked time and mentioned the set menu that I had booked. The manager then said that they had decided not to accept the menu, in spite of it still being on their website which we showed him! Paid for the drinks we had and left and went to another restaurant in Chester that was far superior. Don't push an offer and then not deliver it!

Marco Pierre White. The Mailbox

Marco Pierre White, The Mailbox, Birmingham. Never got to try the food as they refused a voucher that we had, I had actually checked with them prior to this that it was going to be ok on the day and they said it was fine (I still have the email to prove it). A completely wasted journey of 60 miles in a storm so this was our first time of visiting Marco Pierre White and, sadly, the last. It amazes me that a restaurant that has more staff than customers is prepared to turn away a £100 table. You are obviously very principled and so are we, so we ate at one of the other eateries beside the canal and it was very nice.

Awful!

Awful! I was very pleased when I received a Virgin Experience voucher for a visit to the shard and a meal at Marco Pierre White London Steakhouse Co Restaurant. To say we were shocked at the appalling service and diabolical food is an understatement. The voucher did not include any side dishes and after an appalling dinner we were not only presented with a bill for an extra £72 it had added service charge already. The steak (that we had paid an extra £12 for) was inedible. When we brought this to the attention of the waiter he just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. The toilets are filthy. I wonder if Marco Pierre White actually ever visits this awful place or is just happy to skim the money off the top of it while letting people have a bad experience!
