Don't order anything that isn't steak…

Although I appreciate it's a steak restaurant the fish and chips I ordered was very poor. Suspect frozen fish. Cheesecake not the best either. My partner's steak did the spot. Good views across Plymouth the only saving grace.

Plymouth

Plymouth - Went for lunch today as not been at MPW's restaurant for a while. We arrived around 12.15 - the waitress was really nice and polite and asked if we wanted a drink. My friend ordered a bloody mary however 5 minutes after ordering it the nice waitress came back to advise they had no tomato juice!! I have to say you cannot fault the food, it was amazing. We placed our order for starters and main. Unfortunately (especially after our last visit) the waiting time for food was almost 45 minutes! At the time of ordering the restaurant was empty! The length in time to get the food to the table is very very slow, it's such a shame because the food is fabulous. The onion soup was out of this world and the roast chicken was succulent and very delicious. We were all very happy with our food choices. We asked for the Bill so we could split it 3 ways but noticed £10 had been added to the bill - we asked the waiter what it was for and he said it was an optional service charge and we didn't have to pay it! I think that was quite cheeky adding it to our meal as the majority of people wouldn't even have known it had been added!! We declined to pay it, the £10 that is! MPW you need to visit your Plymouth branch and see for yourself what is going on. Love MPW but the Plymouth restaurant just needs a few tweak's here and there.

Poor choice of food

Poor choice of food. Very poor service. Staff very have very poor knowledge about food and drinks. Clear that Marco is not interested in service but in trying to slag off his competitors. These restaurants are truly aweful and rely on the name of a narcissist. Macdonalds have better food and better service and better staff.

We just recently been to London and…

We just recently been to London and decided we would get one of these vouchers were you get your food and wine a bit cheaper anyway we did get a voucher but decided to upgrade as our Anniversary is the following week so we ended up with a starter a main with 2 sides normally 6.99 per portion and a sweet or as I got cheese and biscuits with an extra 2.00 to pay on top also included in the price was a bottle of wine up to 35.00 ... So we got starter was ok a few prawns and lots of lettuce no lemon on the side and tiny bit of sauce Then our mains arrived with our over exspensive wine 52.00 which when we googled it it was priced at 11.00 retail I ordered steak Rump and chips with pepper sauce .. the sauce was watery the chips were like scraps now the steak was terrible I order medium rare which I like it was very chewy and full of fat and gristle the I complained to our waiter and his reply was well I'm sorry madam but that's what that cut of meat is like "tuff" as it's from the cows rump.. now why do they sell this cut if it's crap and exspensive then The cheese and biscuits arrived 2 great big triangles of cheese 3 tiny round biscuits no butter or grapes more cheese than anything else anyway we decided to buy an apron at 20.00 for a nice reminder if to never to set foot in the place again that was an 150.00 we will never get back

Very disappointing meal for the cost

Very disappointing meal for the cost. My starter of spare ribs was satisfactory but my main course of steak pie and peas was basically a rip off at nearly £17. The pie was more puff than steak and I would have preferred a pie from my local butchers. The sticky toffee pudding was so hard I could hardly get my spoon to chop it!! I will not be going again.

Worst of the worst, without exaggerating!!

I was expecting to have a nice birthday meal. But I’ve got below average food. Please don’t go there. Get Tesco ready meals and I bet it will taste better. £200 for horrible food. I can’t believe people go there. Never again in my life

MR WHITE NEEDS TO BE ASHAMED

MR WHITE NEEDS TO BE ASHAMED We as a party of 5 had to stand like Lemmings at the front counter for a seeming eternity before someone came to seat us - and it was only midweek 5pm with no other diners in the Restaurant. We were there to celebrate two University degree successes and had chosen somewhere reputedly with a bit of class as a treat. The first words that came out of the Waiter's mouth were "have you got a voucher?". No we didn't have a voucher - so apparently we got a different menu. We were handed cafe-style plain A4 printed menus (which required a magnifying glass to read) and our drinks order was taken. (Maybe with a voucher we'd also have got a large print menu - we did latterly end up sitting in the midst of a couple of Coach trips.) One minute later the Waiter returned to the table - apparently not having understood our request for a particular bottle of Prosecco for two of us to share. When the drinks arrived we were one drink short. The Peroni was also "off" so we ended up with something else - without having been asked first. Our food order was taken but we were informed that the Restaurant had run out of King Prawns - this despite the largest Tesco store in Hull being only a Prawn's throw away. A Prawn-and-a-half away lies the longest street of Fish merchants in the north of England. The starters arrived. Acceptable - I'd expect the same standard in a Wetherspoons. We were hassled prior to finishing the starters and the table was part cleared whilst I continued to eat. When the mains arrived (in good time), my order of Fillet Steak au poivre had morphed into a Steak and Ale pie. I don't have much of a Hull accent and I'm pretty sure my failed-A level French rendition of "Poivre" didn't sound that much like "ale". I was helpfully assured that I'd only have to wait 20 minutes for the correct dish to arrive. Everyone else quite rightly got stuck in and once the missing extra fries order had been cajoled and everyone had finished eating, my steak arrived. It was a very nice steak - apparently taken from an old miniature breed of Cow but the blather was tasty nonetheless. We gave up on sweets and coffee. Requested the bill - noting the 20% service charge included in the total - paid and left. None of the staff who had served us were in attendance on the way out. Strangely enough. My wife remarked that she had gone to the Ladies' mid meal and had witnessed Fish and Chips being delivered to someone's lap. We all agreed that this is the Hull Doubletree Hilton's dining room - despite the shocking mis-use of a celebrity Chef's name to attempt to boost covers and prices by implying it's anything better. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Postscript: I understand that there may be a voucher available on wowcher. Now you know why.

Visited the Clifton Hotel Folkestone

Visited the Clifton Hotel - Steakhouse Bar and Grill and had a really lovely afternoon. The venue is beautiful and staff were attentive and polite without being over-powering. Our party was 17 people and everything was brought out on time, warm and tasted great. Steak was cooked as ordered and the sides were good additions. My only pointer is that the children’s food was over prepared. They really just need simple good food, not peppered, buttered sliced and diced meals. My little ones wouldn’t eat their mains or even the ice-cream (it was too rich for them). Afternoon tea that was being served outside on the patio looked fantastic - will be back to give it a go at some point!

Avoid this place

We booked a table for 4 to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary at the Kegworth restaurant. The staff were all huddled around talking before coming to see to us. Then the lady didn't know how to use the computer to book us in so just wafted her hand at it and said she would take us to our table. The restaurant looked lovely upon entering until she finally seated us (she stopped to talk to her collegue on the way for a minute or two whilst we hovered next to her) We specifically asked not to be seated near the window as it was right next to the smoking area, she just closed the window and still seated us near it. There was food everywhere under the table, the table was sticky and the whole area where we were seated had crumbs. She gave us the food menus and three out of four of them had old, dried food on them. Even our 7 year old daughter pointed it out and said how gross it was! My husband went to find someone to state our issues and they gave the following excuses: 1) Sorry about the crumbs it must have been from breakfast, it wasn't me working. Then she offered to move us to a different table. It was the table right next to the window near the smoking area where we stated we didn't want to sit because of the smell of cigarettes. There was a whole restaurant she could have seated us in, we were the only ones there! 2) As for the menus, my husband pointed out, "I thought the whole point of A4 printed menus were so that each customer gets a fresh one what with Covid etc." They looked at him blank and shrugged their shoulders. So before we had even looked at sitting down we were ready to leave. We also noticed a white substance, possibly cream splashed down one of the grey drapes next to the table. We decided not to be reseated and we all agreed to leave and dine somewhere cleaner! If this is what they allow you to see, then what on earth is it like behind the scenes. No apology and the staff were very rude. We sent an email to Marco's and never had a response! This ruined our anniversary meal wise, as we had been looking forward to eating here but instead we had to drive somewhere else! I seriously wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!!

We never got the chance to eat there...

We never got the chance to eat in the Rudloe Arms Hotel because, having booked and paid for 2 nights in a superior room with a Wowcher voucher, they called us 4 days before the trip, told us the room was not now available and asked if we would be be happy to accept a downgrade. We refused and are trying to get our money back from Wowcher. Watch this space.

Lincoln restaurant was amazing

Lincoln restaurant was amazing, great service from Oli. We’d ordered some billionaire shortbread but unfortunately they had ran out, however Oli came to the rescue and offered us a very nice cheesecake. Service was great, food was great!!! Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back.

Rudloe Arms

Rudloe Arms. How can you live in a hour but never answer the phone? Your business is to advertise through Wowcher / groupon and fail to communicate with the customers to which you have cashed in their voucher. The numbers represented on your page Mr PW state a full inbox of messages and no answering by the staff you have working for you. This is the worst time I have had to collect my money back as your ‘experience’ is nothing short of terrible!! Never book this hotel as their customer service is shocking.

Overpriced pretentious, not worth a visit

Overpriced, pretentious bog standard food, if it wasn’t so bad it would be laughable. Pub grub at al la carte prices, the Caesar salad was disgusting, the macaroni cheese was the size of a side dish. Don’t waste your time or money visiting just go to your local pub where I’m sure the food will be better at a fraction of the price.

We went to The Cube in Birmingham to…

We went to The Cube in Birmingham to visit Marco Pierre for a date night. The atmosphere was nice, the lighting and music was relaxing and the view was pretty. However, the service was box standard, as you'd expect from a pub food chain. The food was disappointing to say the least, I had fish and chips, the fish was fresh however the batter was soggy and it was greasy, was not crispy at all. The chips were like they were battered which wasn't bad, but they was also very greasy, was like there was no potato at all. Side of onion rings were disappointing, also very greasy and just didn't taste nice at all, Wetherspoons onion rings are by far the best. The cheesecake was gritty and lukewarm as if it had been left out of the fridge for a while, didn't even finish it all. For what we had to pay(£98 for fish&chips, shepherds pie, cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding, 2 beers, water and a lemonade, plus window seats), I was expecting better quality and higher standards especially to have spent this much money at this restaurant. Will not be going again.

Ripping people off

Ripping people off, you are given a voucher as a present and then the meal you expect to have that says all included costs more than the voucher did. I could have had a meal in a nice steak restaurant with drinks for a lot less than the extra costs I had to pay on top of what was paid for the voucher Don’t buy these vouchers for presents people are being ripped off

Poor value for money, bad experience

Meal booked for 5 people at Liverpool based restaurant. All meals very average & pricey for what they were. One meal, the most expensive on menu at £30, arrived mostly cold and steak over cooked. Returned the dish and waited 25mins for a fresh one, when all others in party had finished their meal. There was no recognition of the disappointment of our experience or inconvenience and full service charge still added to bill which we refused to pay. Service was very average, wrong wine brought, tap water provided for table was warm and plates not cleared. We have previously ate here and couldn't rate the good/service highly enough, however based on recent experience, certainly won't be returning and wouldn't recommend.
