DURHAM RESTAURANT

6 of us went to the Durham restaurant and absolutely loved it. The food was amazing, atmosphere lovely, all staff were amazing, especially kian. He truly went above and beyond and was so good it's made us start planning another visit. If you're thinking of heading to the Durham site you won't be disappointed! Highly recommended 😀

Menu looked OK on expensive side in a Best Western Hotel. Wine requested was not available alternative was cheap Chilean plonk at exorbitant price. Was served overcooked aporox 5onz cold steak requested as medium with French fries charged extra £4.50 and little else by surly waiter with minimum interaction just did a basic job. Meal for two £88 no starter or pudding. Would not return

RIP OFF

My children bought me a virgin experience voucher for my 60th Birthday; Marco Pierre White Steak House Company, Middlesex Street and theatre tickets. We arrived for the experience on 27th March 2025, quite excited and looking forward to a beautiful meal and the whole experience. We arrived and went through the front doors, which is where front of house was situated, we were left queuing with another a couple, in the way of people entering the restaurant, having to move here and there to get out of the way, not once did the the person behind the desk looked at us, give us eye contact, nothing in the way of an apology ... I will be with you in a moment, I do apologise for your wait, thank you for your patience, absolutely nothing, like I have said, she did not even look at us, completely ignored us. We were showed to our table, the tables were very close together and I had someone literally sitting right behind my right shoulder; it was very uncomfortable, it was quite dark where we were seated and we couldn't read the menu, the waiter proceeded to abruptly take the shade from the artificial candle and handled me the candle!!! We made out choices from the menu and ordered two courses, with 2 extra sides of fries and mushrooms (£8.50 ea per extra side). Our starters were brought to the table and I noticed I hadn't got a napkin; shouldn't someone have noticed that the table was set out properly. Our main meals arrived, we had to ask for our mushrooms, which had been ordered previously, they arrived a good 5 minutes later. Extra sides were quoted as being £8.50 each on the menu, on checking our bill after leaving the restaurant we noticed that they had charged us £12 for the fries, and they were awful. Our steak was very average, the peppercorn sauce; if you closed your eyes, you would not have guessed that that was what it was, no taste at all to be honest. We had 2 Irish coffees which were small and were £14 each. We paid £3 for a cover charge and 9.5% service charge. The meal was £55 (which was gifted; voucher) and we paid an extra £140 on the night. VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTING, AND TO BE HONEST A RIP OFF

No working toilet, rude waiter. Don't go

No working toilet! Told 'go down the road near Franco Manco'. These things happen, fair enough BUT be up front about it. Would have had less water. Extremely rude waiter- totally unacceptable. Give this a miss until they sort out their toilets and staff. Definitely do NOT get a voucher through Buyagift.com. £20 booking fee, cover fee on top of voucher. A shame, because the food was good.

Afternoon tea at Marco's in Meriden…

My friend and I enjoyed afternoon tea on a Groupon at MPW Meriden, Solihull on 14/3/25. What a wonderful afternoon we had and a lovely dining experience. Great value on a Groupon and such a beautiful, comfortable restaurant. Our waitress, Jennifer, was first class. Such a credit to MPW, even telling us how amazing their Sunday roast is so we will be booking up for that! She could not do enough for us, to be honest, we have never been treated so well anywhere!! Her attention to detail was second to none. A couple of weeks ago I went to MPW in Birmingham for afternoon tea and there is absolutely no comparison. We were kept waiting ages for our table and in the end asked for it to be served where we were sat in the lounge area rather than the restaurant because they were still waiting for the table to clear! MPW Meriden is in a different league on every level, but the thing that really sets them apart is their wonderful service and surroundings. We will definitely return and cannot recommend them highly enough. Special thanks to Jennifer for making our experience so enjoyable, you really are Marco's jewel in the crown.

Very very disappointing we visited the…

Very very disappointing we visited the Plymouth restaurant today for a birthday celebration, firstly the gentleman who was there to check customers in said there was no record of our booking, I told him that I had an email confirming our booking and he asked to see it, in the meantime he found our booking but did not apologise for not finding it. We were shown to our table and Thomas said he would be looking after us and brought the menus, we didn’t want starters as we didn’t want to spoil our main courses so we ordered the mains which took an hour to arrive and that was after we asked the staff how much longer it would be (we had been told that we only had the table for a limited time) the steaks only come with 3 tiny vine tomatoes and a very small amount of chips so we ordered some sides which did not come with the mains but arrived about 20 minutes later after we reminded the staff about them, when the sides finally arrived the portions were very small (certainly not value for what was charged). The sirloin steak was exceptable unfortunately the two ribeye steaks were atrocious, the medium rare was so chewy it was inedible, the well done ribeye was like cutting into a piece of old leather, being very hungry having waited far too long for our meals l tried to eat the steak but gave up a third of the way through finding it impossible to eat! The first glass of Prosecco that we ordered was completely flat so we had to ask for a replacement. Being still hungry we would have liked to order desserts but the 3 choices on offer of cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding or ice cream wasn’t what we would expect from a quality restaurant so we decided against it. We honestly felt let down by the food and although the views are stunning we actually went for the food the views should have been a bonus! Thomas who looked after us was very apologetic about everything and seemed genuinely embarrassed and did get permission to get one of the steaks off the bill, we tipped him £10 for himself and hopefully he was able to keep it for himself! We are truly disappointed in the quality of the food and wonder why the restaurant is charging such inflated prices for such bad quality food, especially the steaks, in our humble opinion the restaurant focuses on the cream teas side of the business far more than the normal lunch service!

This company should be ashamed of the selves. So many poor reviews. My daughter who works very hard treated us for a buy a gift experience for Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Co London. We were charged a £20 table booking fee, then a £3.00 table cover charge, the a 9.5% service charge. We were happy to pay the service charge as the waiter was outstanding but this is a con and both them and Buyagift just don’t care. There is nothing in the t&cs about this

Purchased the £20 vouchers for two course meal and a drink as a Christmas present for relatives. Small print stated use by end of March, cannot be used on a Saturday after 6pm and a few particular dates in February. Go to book and then it turns out that it varies depending on location (ours is Mon-Weds only)....this was not obvious when purchasing and very misleading. When queried was directed to a final bullet point on very small T's and C's! Would not buy again.

Voucher not worth the money, everything is at a supplement on top.

I was given a buyagift voucher for a 3 course meal with cocktails at Marco Pierre White. Unfortuntately it feels a complete con! You have to pay a £10 per head no refundable booking fee, most of the menu choices have a supplement to pay, and there are no sides included, all of these are at an additional cost. Real shame, what should have been a lovely birthday present is actually a very expensive con for both the purchaser and recipient. I'm not sure why these restaurants are offering these gift vouchers, all they do is leave you feeling somewhat disappointed.

poor management from Black and White Hospitality

I visited In January for the 50% off mains that was advertised through email from these scammers. Upon presentation of the bill steaks were apparently not included (in a steakhouse) Although staff agreed with my logic after being sent pictures of steaks and the small print not mentioning steaks being excluded only sharing steaks being excluded, I contacted Black and White hospitality as advised. Robyn the so called Marketing Director was slow to respond and clearly wasn't concerned with any customer service as I chased her for 4 weeks for responses, each time saying she would look into it. Eventually she agreed to have me revisit and grant me the offer I should have had in the first place. (even though I had already paid full price instead of half price) I could now pay half instead of full. As I'm a regular anyway we accepted and asked to arrange a table for the 19th Feb. 2 weeks have passed and no communication has returned, The restaurant have confirmed no reservation when I have called. Even after CC'ing other management in the emails nobody can even do the courtesy of replying. Out of principle I will not be visiting again! **review updated. since then I was contacted by Rhiannon at the venue who arranged to make amends for this. Arranged complimentary drinks and half price food, service was top notch. Thanks to Hannah for looking after us. it takes courage to make amends when your higher management have let you down. Well done girls.

Poor Dining Experience

Dear Marco Pierre White’s New York Italian Team, I am writing to formally express my disappointment with a recent dining experience at your restaurant in London Bridge on Friday 7 February. I received a voucher for a three-course meal with bubbles as a gift for my 40th birthday and was looking forward to a special evening. Unfortunately, the experience fell far below expectations due to poor service and a lack of communication. We arrived a few minutes late due to train issues and were shown to the bar, where we were told we would be called when a table became available. While waiting, we were expected to purchase our own drinks and were not offered the complimentary glass of bubbles included with our voucher. After a 20 minute wait, we were finally seated - despite having a reservation for 7:30pm and a time limit requiring us to vacate the table by 9:10pm. Once seated, we ordered our three courses and, after enjoying our glass of bubbles, decided to order a bottle of wine while awaiting our starters. However, nearly an hour passed with no sign of our food. When we enquired with the waiter, we were not given any explanation for the delay. Another 15-20 minutes later, we were served our main courses - without ever having received our starters. The staff appeared confused when we pointed this out, and at no point did we receive an apology. To make matters worse, when we requested to speak to a manager about the situation, we were informed that they had already left for the evening. By this point, it was after 9:30pm, and we were left feeling frustrated, hungry, and deeply disappointed by the lack of service and professionalism. While this meal was purchased as a gift, it was still a paid experience, and the standard of service we received was unacceptable. Given the circumstances, we informed the waiter that we would not be paying for our bottle of wine and expected our voucher to be extended. However, after further consideration, we have decided that we do not wish to use this voucher at your restaurant. We will be contacting Buyagift to request an alternative experience, as this visit has completely tainted our expectations of your establishment.

My first and last experience

A first time experience going to this restaurant in Nottingham, definitely the last . I personally had to wait for my meal of cod to be brought to the table after everyone had nearly eaten there food, then I had to wait for side orders that was to make up my meal, so my main had gone cold, to make things worse my order of potatoes were freezing cold inside Forcing me to send them back. Basically my meal was ruined from start to finish. Well done chefs for letting the waitress down who was excellent may I add .

Felixstowe - staff with attitude

Booked for afternoon tea for 10 people. Food and venue were good. Restaurant manager and another staff member were blunt and had attitudes. We continually had to ask for milk and hot water for the tea, if additional tea bags were required we would have to pay for them. For the gluten free sandwiches, one was just bread and butter. However, the biggest issue was at 3.05 when we asked to order drinks, the staff member turned away and sighed heavily and advised we had to leave by 3.30. This was then questioned with the restaurant manager who advised that the confirmation would show this time slot, it doesn't and when this was shown to her she sighed and walked off. So we were completely rushed as the table was required for a 4.30 booking. This was not true as the booking for was 5.30. Overall a venue which has potential but staff with bad customer service and attitudes. This has been raised to their general manager and we still await his comments.

Champagne room booking disaster

Champagne room booking was a disaster Booked for my brothers surprise 40th birthday The service we have received is beyond appalling, i will begin to detail just SOME of the reasons why. The reception had no idea who any of my hotel guests were supposed to be (rooms booked through events) , claimed they only had two bookings Reception checked our guests into each others rooms. I.e sent guests with keys to the wrong rooms - one of them walked INTO my father's room. They sent ME around my brother's event to figure out which guest was in what room because of their error. After I went through all that effort the above guest was checked out at midnight anyway because they 'weren't sure who was in the room'. The male colleague at reception was getting so confused when everyone was telling them their names. AND told me on arrival nobody had breakfast booked in the packages. I had to show them my correspondence via email to prove that we did have breakfast booked. And then when the woman on reception was trying to rectify it, she proceeded to blame MY guests and say that they were all giving my name which is not true. They just weren't being understood by the man at the desk when they were giving their own name. I was given the excuse that the events team system and the hotels team system are two separate systems, And rather than contacting events rectify it your female colleague decided to argue with me on the phone whilst I'm trying to get ready to host my brother's 40th birthday. It was such a commotion I ended up booking rooms on Booking.com for one of my guests just so she could check in and get ready. Mind you this was all an hour and a half before the event was supposed to start. Then the events team contacted me after the weekend had passed to say that they will be charging me for the guest that hadn't turned up - but they had turned up... they were in the hotel. On top of this, The tables were sat with the wrong colour table cough setting me and my vendors back by three hours from the time that we said we'd be ready by. The welcome drinks weren't on the table i was shown and paid to have decorated they were just sat on the bar. to make matters worse, the kids meal was not ready nor cooked so my 6 year old family member ate 45 minutes after the adult in the room. And then to complete the night the rooms were freezing and my guests left the hotel with a cold. My towels had hair on them (mine is blonde, the hair was black), and my sisters room had nail clippings on the floor - evidence can absolutely be provided if necessary. This is just to note a few things that happened. To say I am angry and disappointed after the weekend hosting my brother's surprise 40th is the understatement of the century. Over 3000 pounds down the drain

My dear friend and I had afternoon tea…

My dear friend and I had afternoon tea at 2.30pm on 28/1/25 at the London Bridge branch. After waiting a while we ordered prosecco from the bar, at which point the waiter advised us that our tables were ready, at no point did he offer to take the drinks to the table, or assist with coats, he actually watched us struggle with our coats, drinks and bags while his hands were free. When we were seated the table felt sticky and the whole restaurant smelt of stale cooked greasy meat! The environment was unpleasant to say the least, not somewhere suitable for afternoon tea, at least put a table cloth on the table. The waiter had no knowledge of tea's and just put a menu in front of us that he could not explain. The sandwiches and cakes eventually appeared, I cannot actually believe that Marco Pierre White put his name the food that appeared, it was dreadful! I wrote to the restaurant and gave them the opportunity to respond yesterday, they did not.
