Review summary
Legal advice services has room for improvement based on customer feedback. Customers particularly appreciate service and professional, though some mention concerns about expensive and customer service.
Shockingly bad and completely ruined my perception of Which? as an organisation.
Advice was next to useless, ended up paying for 3 years because I was UNABLE TO CANCEL. The website simply doesn't work for cancellations and couldn't get help.
The only way I could find to stop paying them was to change the payment method to a virtual card and then freeze the card so the payment couldn't go out!
It's crazy that Which? of all people would not make it easy to cancel their service and effectively stole Β£200 from me because I wasn't able to cancel!
Really disappointed and expected so much better from Which?
Somewhat helpful to give basic advice and that is all. They refuse to look at the documents! Membership cancellation process is excessively complicated!
The greed of which legal is no different from the greed of other companies
We are four leaseholders in a Victorian house which was converted to 3 flats plus a basement/garden flat. We had a horrible managing agent but got the RTM last year. We hired a new managing agent. We are just four people trying to manage a place on our own with the help of a managing agent who will follow our instructions unlike the previous agent who saw as as cows to be milked and invented all sorts of overcharged jobs to do so they could have a nice commission.
We are not a commercial company. We have no profits. I joined which legal and booked an appointment. They cancel it the day before the appointment saying they don't advise RTMs and we should look for a solicitor. Well, if we could afford a solicitor we wouldn't join which legal to begin with.
It's disgraceful that Which, the self proclaimed champion of consumers, sees a RTM as some sort of company when we are really just consumers like everybody else.
We are somehow survivors from a bad business relation. But which will not advise us. The hipocrisy of it is shocking. RTMs were created so consumers could make their own decision instead of being under the rule of awful managing agents.
The lady assigned to me barely listened to what I had to say and kept cutting me off when I was speaking. She wasn't interested in going into the details of my situation and just gave generic 'advice' that I already knew and is widely available for free on the internet. Such a waste of time and money. I ended the call early and didn't ask all the questions I wanted to ask because the conversation wasn't going anywhere. No point speaking if I keep being cut off. It's not worth the money or the time in my opinion. There are so many other better and free options available online.
I have just won a complicated case in the County Court as a litigant in person. I am so grateful to James at Which Legal, for his patience and expert advice throughout the whole, long experience. I could not have done it without him!
Which 'legal services' not so 'legal' and certainly without 'services'
Which 'legal services', as part of which and which trusted traders will tell you that, if you were to try to resolve a problem with one of their trusted traders, there is a conflict of interest.
But what exactly are they doing in return for your money, yes it is not as expensive as a solicitor would be but all what you get is a very polite 'nothing', they are not solicitors and do not claim to be but they would just tell you to write, email the trader with who you encounter a difficulty, nothing else. And god forbid if it is one of their trusted traders.
I had the displeasure in encountering problems with few traders who paid to be on Which directory listing, and the first thing Which legal services said was about the conflict of 'interest', this is the keyword for Which and other directories, 'interest'.
Got nowhere, did managed to post a review against that trader but then Which as a whole pointed the finger 'at me' for 'my dare', me! the elderly lady living on my own, and indeed that trader replied to my review by telling the world I diserved it for been elderly and on my own! what do you think of this eh? The same company Which one trust to be the 'hero for the consuming world', I question who they are and what they do, oh yes repeating what was already said years ago on one of the BBC programs! But do they defend us at the right time no!
I cancelled my subscription and I soon received a letter of somebody who calls himself the head of sales and services, so I tried to call him, but was told this would not do as 'he is the director' sorry, who cares, who he is. Appealing behabiour!
And of course, you guess I did not get my money back!
Tony is very helpful in providing accurate information regarding my UKVI and business needs. They have always answered my query in a very cleared manner. They have an in house team of professionals looking after various legal fields.
I would highly recommend their services.
Just Amazing!
This is the best legal service for consumers, I am so impressed by their professionalism, consumers and lay people should use them as they are very efficient, and very knowledgeable indeed.
I will now use them from now and have joined the Subscriptions for life, they are worth every penny for the for legal advice.
They are the best legal team a consumer can have end of, It is important that Consumers do not post up on Forums but get proper legal advice, and they have provided the best to date only in 2 weeks of joining.
Had Which?Legal assistance on two recent, but complex travel claims. Their assistance was excellent in that I got unbiased advice that helped me direct my claims. Sometimes it wasn't the advice that I expected but at least I understood my rights. On one of the claims they assisted me all the through the Small Claims Court (Money Claims Centre) where I won my claim plus my costs.
Sarah really helped me sort out my thinking about how to get builders to make major repairs to my extension in a timely fashion and at no charge to myself. It was a complicated situation and I wanted to avoid legal action if possible. Sarah provided me with information about some of the underlying legal principles that I then took and used to focus the builders' attention and 'persuade' them to act. It worked. A big thank you to Sarah.
I signed up when I needed advice about a parking ticket which ended up being - "your guilty so pay up"! They would not entertain a discussion about my mitigation, or the fairness of the amount etc - even though I said I was happy to go to the small claims court, and put forward my arguments, and I wanted their advice on that. Also, I missed their call, and even though I called back very quickly, I had missed my slot and had to wait again for a couple of days. So, for me, the service was not worth a monthly fee.
But, in answer to some of the below comments, if your cancelling - do call the number given, it is correct. You can cancel both Which Legal and the magazine - which I was going to do - but was offered the magazine at half the price I was currently paying - Β£9.75, so I now pay Β£4.87 per month (for twelve months) and can still cancel at any time. I did cancel Which Legal. I have to say that the process of cancelling was handled politely, obviously asking me to reconsider, but not hassling me when I said no. So fair play to the call handler.
