1 - Steak in Ale with Cheese Cobblers... [D]
The taste and texture of the ale gravy is reasonable.
The meat needs to be cooked for a lot longer and the dumplings are very stodgy.
If you add your own mash or boiled potatoes this just about makes a small meal.
You're probably better off getting a £1 Fray Bentos pie in a tin.
2 - Creamy King Prawn Pasta... [B-]
Plenty of pasta and prawns. This is a full sized meal. The prawns are tender, the pasta is cooked. The sauce lacks flavour and is a bit thin so you may want to add black pepper and cheese then stir it all in.
3 - Chicken Chow Mein [F]
This meal has no business calling itself 'chicken chow mein'. It's basically some chicken pieces in a thick, brown, flavourless gravy and some thick, over-cooked noodles. It's horrible. To make this edible add spaghetti, chicken, and (lots of) soy sauce and Tabasco!
4 - Chicken Tikka Masala [C]
The sauce is thin, sweet and mild. (Not too oily, though.) There's not enough chicken to make this a proper meal. The best way to describe it would be 'a mild curry flavoured chicken soup'. (I added more chicken and used my own Uncle Ben's Rice to make this a proper sized meal.)
5 - Lancashire Hot Pot [B]
This has the texture of Shepherd's Pie with some nice lean, tender lamb added, and the flavour is okay. It makes an adequate small meal. (18 pieces of potato on the cover and just 10 on the meal!) You'll want to add some potatoes and maybe a tin of peas.
6 - Sweet And Sour Chicken [B]
A tasty, sweet viscous sauce and enough of it for a meal... if you add chicken! No pineapple chunks. There is a common theme running through all these frozen meals and it's that the supermarkets do them better and cheaper.
7 - Shepherd's Pie [D]
A watery squirt of anaemic, powdered mash potato over a lamb-flavoured gravy! The meat is fatty, despite being ground down and the flavour of the sauce is mild to non existent. Just throw it away. It's almost inedible. No thought has gone into this at all.
8 Lasagne [C+]
It's not 'lasagne', but... lots of meat sauce with a decent flavour, the pasta is not overcooked and there's plenty of the bland white sauce, too. But once again, to make this a meal you have to add things... lots of spaghetti and a loaf of garlic bread did it for me.
In summation, I won't be back.
The supermarkets do these meals, and better and cheaper.
