I have had an account with Chase bank for quite a few years now. On 31 October 23 I tried to log into my account to check my balance. For the first time ever, I had to have a numerical code sent to my email in order to sign into my account. I was not happy about the extra aggravation, but I used the numerical code and signed into my account.
I was immediately greeted with a screen that asked if I wanted to continue in future with "2 step" verification or authentication. I thought, What?! Are you out of your mind??? My response was HELL NO! I do not need ANY extra work or aggravation in my life simply to to benefit YOU!!!! I have a user name and password. That is ENOUGH as far as I am concerned. I then completed my task and logged out.
Later in the day, I logged back in in order to set up a new payee with Zelle (payee initials N.C.). Afterward, I sent the payee $126, but the bank cancelled the payment. I sent it a second time, and the bank again cancelled the payment with no explanation other than "suspicious activity." I was furious. Believe me, the hatred I felt for Chase bank at this point already was beyond measurement.
They just made a liar out of me to the payee. I promised the payee I would send the payment on 31 October 23 and they would have it on 01 November 23. Now, I had to explain to the payee that the bank was not letting me send the payment with no other explanation than "suspicious activity." I felt like an idiot with zero credibility.
I ended up giving the payee, N.C., a paper cheque on , and six days later, I am STILL locked out of my account.
The b*stards asked me to provide my debit card number, PIN, address, and to correctly answer 5 "security questions." I did all of this, and they STILL would not unlock my account. They then had the temerity to ask me "why" I wanted to give $126 to payee N.C. I told them it was none of their bloody business why I wanted to give $126 to this payee or to any other payee. That is my private, personal business!! What in hell makes them think I have to explain to them why I want to send money to anyone?!! They are actually trying to stop me from using my own money as I see fit. Unbelievable!!!!
At one point last week, I complained to their executive offices about all of this and had one of their people, a young man named Brandon, on a call with me and another man in the bank's "fraud department." Brandon gave the other man some sort of code, apparently to prove who he was. If this was not so ridiculous and infuriating it would be funny....
Brandon told this other man that he had verified who I was and that they needed to unlock my account. The other man said he wanted to "help me," but he could not speak to me with someone else on the call. This was THEIR OWN EXECUTIVE OFFICE for heaven's sake!!!!!! Brandon then had to hang up the phone.
I then was left with the man in the fraud department who then wanted to send a f**king "code" to my phone in order to proceed. I told him I did not have a phone to send a code to. He then said he could not help me if I could not receive a code to my phone.
I was/am angry beyond words. I HATE THIS BANK, AND I HATE ON-LINE BANKING. Using a bank should not be this aggravating under ANY circumstances.
I am now looking into doing business with a different bank. However, this was the straw that broke the camel's back with on-line banking. I have said for years that this push toward "papeless" everything was insane, and this proves it beyond a doubt. They do not want to send. back our cheques. They say paper is not "sustainable." Really? Then why in the hell is all the marketing crap they send us in the post "sustainable?" They are LYING to us. These banks are controlled by a relative few very rich people who are screwing over the rest of the population.
The banks no longer want anyone to use paper. They want you to go "paperless," which I hate, but after they force you into this position, this is the sort of thing they do to you in the name of "security." It is WRONG. It is positively Orwellian.
I plan to use only paper cheques from now on. I am DONE with on-line banking. I have no words adequate to describe the white hot hatred I feel for banks anymore. Banks are operated by paranoid schizophrenics now, and I want nothing to do with the sick b*stards. The very idea that they have some sort of "right" to ask me why I want to send money to ANYONE is beyond belief, and to lock me out of my account for nearly a week now is totally unacceptable.
Chase, I would sign your death warrant without blinking an eye. I HATE YOU. You are not a trustworthy business. You have no interest in serving me, your customer. All you care about is protecting your. bottomline, and it has gotten so outrageous at this point as to be unbelievable. I do NOT owe you a bloody explanation as to why I want to send money to ANYONE. How DARE you b*stards expect me to tell you this in order to access my own f**king money!!!!
