Renting out your home of over 14 years…

Renting out your home of over 14 years is never easy, logistically or emotionally. Elizabeth and the team at Dexters have guided us through this journey with professionalism, diplomacy, and efficiency. We’re incredibly grateful for their support and understanding, especially given that the process is rarely straightforward or predictable. Thank you!

Bethan Pike was our property manager…

Bethan Pike was our property manager and has probably been the most caring and attentive person we've had manage our tenancy. When we ever had issues with the property, she was always responsive and helpful and also managed the end of our tenancy/deposit very well, handling a dispute with our landlord. We've had horrendous experiences with estate agents and private landlords in the past so it's a breath of fresh air to know there are great people out there.

Lottie at Dexters in Surbiton

Lottie at Dexters in Surbiton was on the ball, and always called me back if I left a message. She is very helpful and keen, and a great asset to Dexters. I would recommend using Lottie for your next house sale.

The worst estate agent

I had a very disappointing experience with Dexters Ealing that has seriously damaged my perception of the agency’s professionalism. At a recent viewing, the agent, didn’t even introduce himself—his first words were to ask my name and tell me I was early and would have to wait, despite the fact I simply arrived on time and hadn’t requested to begin early. This immediately made me feel unwelcome and like an inconvenience rather than a potential buyer. To make matters worse, my young son had a broken arm in a cast. I allowed him to sit down briefly so I could view the property without having to carry him. Instead of showing understanding, the agent reprimanded us as though we were causing harm to the home, which was both insensitive and inappropriate. When I raised these concerns afterward, I received a defensive response from the Sales Team Manager, who doubled down on the agent’s account and offered no apology for how we were made to feel. His reply showed no willingness to acknowledge our experience or accept any fault, further reflecting the lack of customer care and professionalism. This experience has left a lasting negative impression and has damaged Dexters' reputation in my eyes. I would expect a higher standard of professionalism, basic courtesy, and human understanding-especially from a company entrusted with selling homes to families.

BEWARE - We were misled, pressured, ghosted, and left without a rental flat after paying over £5,000.

BEWARE: We were misled, pressured, ghosted, and left without a flat to rent after paying over £5,000. We paid a deposit, one month’s rent, completed referencing, signed a contract, and even set up a standing order — all for a flat that Dexters assured us had been accepted. Three and a half weeks before our move in date, we were suddenly told the flat was no longer available. We were never contacted again by the agent we dealt with. I don’t normally write reviews but my girlfriend and I had a genuinely awful experience with Dexters. I’m sharing this to warn others, especially since I’ve since learned that several friends have had similar issues that never seem to appear in Dexters’ reviews. We viewed a one bed flat to rent in Nottinghill. It was listed at £2,700pcm but during the visit the agent informed us that they had advised the landlord that fair rental value was £2,500pcm and that they believed the landlord may accept closer to this amount (they claimed that they were already renting it out on behalf of the landlord). We put an offer in the next business day at the amount we had been informed that the landlord was likely to accept. We then underwent a series of reoffers due to the agent now informing us "this is unlikely to be accepted" despite implying differently in person. Our final offer was finally above the asking amount because we wanted to secure a flat to rent. We were next informed that the Landlord liked our offer, but needed us to sign a three year contract. Our response was that this would only be possible if we had an option to break at one year. We then shortly after recieved a call from a more senior letting agent (who we had not dealt with sofar in this process) who attempted to persuade us that we did not need an option to break "because the government is about to pass a renters reform bill which will make contracts become monthly" implying that a three year contract wouldn't actually matter. This felt incredibly predatory: a letting agent using the prospect of a reform bill to pressure prospective renters to sign longer contracts. We reaffirmed that we would be unable to sign unless there was an option in the agreement. The initial response was to continue to attempt to persuade us that we were wrong, but ultimately the call ended. We were told that an option was fine but there was a hard start date that we must agree to which was two weeks earlier than our initial move in date. We agreed. Dexters then said that they would get back to us. Later the same day, we got a call to tell us that the landlord had accepted our offer, amazing! We then completed everything ourside as instructed by Dexters: completed the referencing process, paid a months rent, paid the deposit, and signed all of the agreements. We were happy that we now had a place to rent. We emailed Dexters weekly after this asking them to resend the link to our tenancy agreement (which had conveniently expired), but we were no longer receiving replies from our agent. Three weeks before we were supposed to move in, we were told that the landlord technically had not signed the agreement and that they would chase the issue the same day and let us know after their meeting with him at 11am. I then proceeded to ring Dexters several times throughout the day as differening agents proceeded to lie to me to inform me that our agent was not in. Near the end of the day, a new young agent who we had not had any dealings with at all rang us to inform us that "the landlord has blindsided us" and pulled out. The previous agent who we had dealt with now no longer replied to our emails. The new agent sorted the refund of our money, and told us "I have a property to put you into" which upon viewing online learned meant an overpriced property that had been on the market for over a month which another agent was unable to rent out. We have not heard from Dexters since. I have not mentioned the agents names that we dealt with, but they are those mentioned in other postive reviews for Dexters Nottinghill.

Since the day we entered our flat the agency has been ready to help. In particular, we have to thank Mr Petros, who welcomed us by email on the very first day and is currently doing the very best to let us live a great experience with this tenancy. He is always available on the phone or by email and up to now he solved every little doubt or issue we could have. Thank you!

We got a wonderful property manager

I moved into my new flat 3 months ago now. We've been pretty unlucky as it's an old (but beautiful) house and therefore have had quite a lot of small issues (getting locked out of the bedroom because the doorknob was broken, faulty boiler, burst pipe in the bathroom, windows that were stuck shut...). Luckily, Malachi Murray was appointed as our property manager and he's done an absolute top job since day one. He's always available, super responsive, incredibly pleasant, reassuring, and works really hard to solve every issue as fast as possible. It definitely feels like he's always got our back. And whilst we know we'll probably have other issues, we know that we've got someone who's always there to help. I couldn't be more thankful for his help with everything so far.

We’ve had a very disappointing experience with Dexters. When we first signed up, we were promised weekly feedback and regular communication — but that never happened unless we chased for it ourselves. The initial valuation of our property was far too high and completely unrealistic. Rather than acknowledging this, we were gradually pressured into reducing the price, without any genuine discussion or accountability. What’s been most concerning, however, is the way our property was handled during viewings. We became aware that viewers were sometimes shown the wrong flat, given inaccurate information about our home, or told we were desperate to sell and willing to accept significantly lower offers. This kind of representation is deeply unprofessional and not what we expected when we entrusted Dexters with the sale of our home. We started this process with full trust in our agent, but that trust quickly faded due to poor communication, a lack of transparency, and a general feeling that our best interests were not being prioritised. Sadly, we’ve been left feeling deflated and let down by the whole experience
