Was asked for a 1p credit card payment

Downloaded some software to manage home hotspot, apparently free?!? Was asked for a 1p credit card payment, in their words 'to authenticate myself'. Then I was taken to pages and sites about comics and such, nothing to do with my interest in software. They then tried to take £39 without my knowledge or consent. Fortunately my card provider spotted the larger transaction and declined it. Their fraud team is now investigating the practices of Contengate

terrible experience

This company cannot improve - I believe they're scammers. I believed I had to pay 1P to watch a you tube video, turns out I had subscribed to a £39.99 monthly con. Contacted the company within 5 minutes of realising this, they assured me that they would refund me and take no further payment. Wrong, a further 3 payments were taken. I have however contacted my bank who have refunded me in full and are taking on the company. A very clever scam, beware

Unknown subscription!? 😮 But quickly refunded.

I don't know what contengate do I felt tricked that I was subscribed to something without knowing. I agreed to a 99p charge to apparently prove my identity because I thought I needed this app for my new fitness watch - I hate play store! However after advice from my credit card provider I unsubscribed quickly then emailed to request refunds on the 2 payments they had taken for £39.99. I received a courteous response promising a refund followed a few days later by the refunds of both payments. An honourable response but it should not have been that easy for them to set up regular direct debits.

This company has taken three payments…

This company has taken three payments over three months without my permission. I do not know who they are or how they acquired my bank details. I do not always use the account so did not notice straight away. This amounts to £97. Needless to say this is a disgusting scam and I will be chasing this. Be very aware that this company is effectively stealing money from unsuspecting people.

This company took £39.99 from my bank without my permission. I have asked for a refund but heard nothing. The company operates by linking itself to a free app I was downloading. Be very warey. The company offers some sort of film streaming service. Avoid

Cargos en tarjeta sin enterarte

No sé cómo pero tengo dos cargos en mi tarjeta de 29,99€. Creo que tienen una estrategia muy dudosa para enganchar y que piques y caigas en la trampa.

A wrong righted

I wrote a very scathing review of this company after they took money from my account without authorisation. Feeling I had nothing to lose, but not hopeful that I would get a refund, I wrote to their customer service department. They answered very promptly to say they were investigating. I thought I would hear no more but the next day I got an email saying they would refund the money. I still wasn't hopeful as they said it could take up to 15 days depending on the bank but two days later my £39.99 appeared back in my account. It shouldn't have left in the first place but fair play, they dealt with my complaint very swiftly and professionally and did the right thing.

Beware

I was subscribing to a sports channel. This company had placed a link over the top of the original website. The link appears to be part of the actual website. I thought I was setting up payment to the sports channel but it looks like I have been duped into setting up payment to this company. Have had to cancel my credit card.

2 months scammed from me

As with others, this sneaky company lured me into a subscription, (always read the small print) got 2 months of 39.99 out before I noticed it, block on future payments, bank chasing refund, not illegal just morally wrong, beware!!

Not too sure how they got my details

Not too sure how they got my details, I have no interest in gaming. Checked my bank account to find a payment had been processed for £39.99 in may and one pending for this month. Contacted bank immediately who blocked the pending payment and blocked my card. Have e mailed the roque company but not expecting any reply. My bank are looking into this.

This site is FRAUD

This site is FRAUD. Their ad popped up on another transaction I was doing, and the following month £59.99 was taken from my account. Again this month, another £59.99 just came off my card. I thought this was part of the setup I was doing, and I clicked on it by mistake. I had to cancel my card. I have been trying to get in touch with them, but I have not heard from them. fraud

I received a message to log in my account from my university and I scan a code who log me to this site. I was asked to accept a payment of 0.001 but bank told me that can be a fraud. And from what I read it is a fraud. Take care what you scan Nd what you pay.

Parking app scam contengate.

Whilst trying to download a parking app so we could park at Hampton Court U.K. I unwittingly gave my credit card details to this outfit and paid £0.01 on May 7th. contengate have now tried to collect a further £39.99. I had a call from Barclaycard this morning and the payment has been intercepted and declined by them. The worry is my card details could now be sold on.
