Disappointed by Stake: Account blocked, excessive KYC requests, no support response
I signed up for Stake as a new user and made a small deposit of around $45 in crypto. After placing just 8 small bets totaling about $3.80, my account was unexpectedly blocked. I was asked to provide identity verification documents, which I did — including a valid government-issued ID and all required personal details. However, Stake then demanded a selfie with my ID, proof of address, and even proof of source of income. For such a small deposit and minimal activity, I found these requests to be excessive and intrusive. I’m not comfortable sharing biometric data or sensitive financial information without clear justification. Since explaining my concerns and politely declining to provide additional documents, Stake's support team has stopped responding entirely — both in live chat and by email. No explanation for the block, no resolution offered, no transparency at all. Out of frustration, I submitted a formal complaint to Curaçao eGaming, outlining the situation, including: – Sudden account suspension without explanation – Excessive and disproportionate KYC demands – Retention of my remaining balance (~$40) – Complete silence from customer support I understand the need for identity verification in some cases — especially for large sums or suspicious activity — but this was a small deposit from a new user with no violations. I expected a more fair and transparent approach. If this situation is resolved fairly, I’ll be happy to update this review. But for now, I can’t recommend Stake to anyone who values transparency and basic customer service.
