They killed my beautiful boy by fluid overdose

They killed my beautiful boy cat by giving him excess IV fluids causing fluid overload, then tried to blame him for having bruising to his lungs (which 4 X-rays over 4 days show that they were all clear as a bell) They advertise that they have specialist surgeons and orthopaedic, yet I take him there for suspected damage to his back end after a rta, then they take over 24hrs to tell me they don't have an orthapedic surgeon and i'll have to go elsewhere! (Then I had to arrange for him to go to a different vet, because they were too busy), but because of all the delays, finding another practice, getting them to send over his report (which they failed to send xrays so further delay as new vets couldnt assess), it was too late as the fluid overdose had already done irreversible damage. They convinced me to take a 48hr package for £719 for X-rays, care scans etc, but If they’d just taken x-rays and I’d taken him home, he’d still be here. But I thought I was doing the best thing by him and could trust them. I wish I could turn the clock back. I was told I’d get a call evening and morning and never. Not one update unless I called therm and then it was I’ll get back to you when I’m not busy (but never), but they call me 6 times, 2 text & 2 emails for £96 payment after he’s is euthanised (because they’d done too much damage to reverse his fluid overload) he was admitted at 1.15pm and didn’t receive an xray until 9pm. He should’ve been assessed and examined asap so that treatment could begin. he was found to have a dislocated back leg and because it had been left too long it wouldn’t go back in properly. I was never informed of his changing condition Ie he’s not eating, we can hear crackling on chest, etc etc nothing (its all on his medical records), so I’m sat at home thinking he’s well and being looked after! When they brought him to me, he reached his arms out and clung to my arm. I was appalled that he’d been left to pee himself and lay in it & stank. He’ll have been holding on to his pee as he was a proud boy and would come in to the house to use toilet box then go back out. Why when he couldn’t use his backend for being in pain (fractured pelvis and dislocated back leg), did they not insert a catheter into his bladder? (Yes I know about infections, risks etc) but a catheter may have been able to take away the excess fluids they were administering! How was it missed that they gave a 4.5kg cat a 500ml bag of IV fluids and replaced it 18hrs later and still not realise the most that weight should have is 250ml in 24hrs! I was told he had an xray on chest early hours of his Sunday morning, yet he was given sedation at 9am just before I arrived to say goodbye, why? I was told first crackles in chest heard at 1am but clinical notes state 8pm “fluids “reduced” to 9ml/hr due to crackles in chest”- this is the dose he should’ve been on from the start! I’ve given 1 star (as that’s all I can give) but they did do X-rays and diagnose his injuries correctly. Just no care, compassion or communication once they’re in. No respect for time (some procedures require immediate operations) I don’t think I can ever forgive them for killing my boy through a simple mistake that they’re not even admitting or apologising for.

Money taken, no dental plan given

I went for an initial consultation last week at the Wakefield branch and I have to say it was very clean (it is new) and the staff lovely. That’s why I’ve given 3* otherwise it would be 1* It’s cost me £45 (1/2 price for the consult) Which is fair enough, but the consultant hardly looked at my teeth, said it would be £395/tooth for composite and £395 for teeth whitening sessions. He was very persuasive, admitted that he’s relatively new and would I prefer a more senior dentist to do the procedure (nothing like putting me on the spot!) and what I feel (on reflection), railroaded into making a further appointment to get started, with an £80 deposit paid. I have had no costings/ quote given. I’ve called today with just over 24hrs to my first appointment to ask someone to discuss all this with me. Nobody has called. The receptionist has emailed head office again to request a refund of my £80 due to the errors and lack of communication, so we shall see. There should always be a no penalty change of mind period. I will update in a few days with the outcome.
