Umi Tea Sets

Quality defects, no return shipping coverage, poor customer service, bribes for 4 and 5 star ratings.
I got three items from Umi - a monk tea utensil set with sandalwood holder, a color changeable golden pig tea pet, and a Japanese bamboo gongfu tea tray. Shipping was standard and the monk and pig tea pets came as described in good condition but the gong fu tea tray came defective. The wood is cut unevenly so the plastic tray underneath does not fit properly - the right edge of the tray is wider than the left so the black plastic tray pops out on the bottom right side when you're looking at the from the top down. Think crooked trapezoid rather than a rectangle. The plastic tray also feels low quality. They told me initially that I was responsible for return shipping to return the item, which I thought was ridiculous since this was a quality defect issue. They then offered me $15 USD compensation for the shipping but shipping from California back to China cost $103 USD (the entire cost of the tea tray)! When I complained they said the best they could do is $20. I then told them that was unacceptable so then they offered me $30 and asked me "can you find a economical shipping way to ship it back?" After this I gave up and just decided to keep the defective tea tray. Flash forward to today. They had the audacity to email me a BRIBE of a $59.98 value Jian Zhang gongfu tea cup "gift" in exchange for a 4 or 5 star review on TrustPilot or ResellerRatings.com. So buyer beware - the items may come defective and there is effectively no return policy. AND they bribe previous buyers for 4 and 5 star reviews.
